The Multiverse Saga has allowed Marvel Studios to go bigger – and occasionally better – through sequels, Disney Plus shows, Special Presentations, and animated offshoots. It was one of the most alluring aspects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s new chapter after the Infinity Saga, but it also ran the risk of overexposing the most popular franchise in the world, with multiple lacklustre titles diluting its cinematic draw.

Another major issue is the lack of concrete continuations to multiple storylines and character arcs set in place by various titles. While some sequels are expected to happen down the line (looking at you Shang-Chi 2and Doctor Strange 3!), it has been 4-5 years since Marvel has even acknowledged the prospects of them still happening, with its focus all over the place trying to spin so many plates.

The good news is that the franchise is committed to getting back on track, stripping things back and telling the stories (and continuations) that fans have been longing for. Better yet, before that even happens, we are getting a sequel to one of the Multiverse Saga’s most successful projects.

Marvel confirms VisionQuest is coming this October with new trailer

Marvel Studios has officially unveiled the first trailer for VisionQuest, confirming that it will hold its planned October 14 release date. With fall approaching and no significant updates on the Disney Plus series’ status in quite some time, fans were beginning to worry that Marvel Studios might move it to next year. After all, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 has been delayed to 2027, and it is a quieter year for Marvel in terms of output (with just Daredevil: Born Again season 3 and Avengers: Secret Wars as the only live-action releases). Thankfully, this wasn’t the case.

Much like other Multiverse Saga sequels, VisionQuest has been in development for years. The difference is that this one has been active development – meaning that it has actually gotten made and will make its presence felt on screens in the near future. With the trailer’s release, Marvel has officially solidified when it will do that – setting the stage for its long-awaited arrival.

VisionQuest is the highly-anticipated sequel series to WandaVision, with Paul Bettany set to reprise his role as the Vision from that very show (and the abundance of MCU movies he had appeared in prior to that Disney Plus series in 2021). It’s also the third installment in the overall WandaVision Trilogy, serving as the second spinoff after 2024’s Agatha All Along (in which WandaVision‘s Kathryn Hahn reprised her role as Agatha Harkness). Needless to say, fans are excited to see how it bring the trilogy to its natural conclusion.

While the WandaVision trilogy is very much considered the crown jewel of Marvel TV(with the first two installments earning critical acclaim, award nominations, and strong viewers for Disney Plus), VisionQuest‘s purpose as a sequel to the mothership series is an interesting aspect. Agatha Harkness wasn’t explicitly tied to Wanda Maximoff’s arc prior to WandaVision, so her series was allowed a lot of creative freedom – all while setting up the next chapter of the ongoing story due to the return of Wanda’s son Billy. VisionQuest, however, is featuring one of the two titular characters from that original series (who also happens to have years of MCU lore behind him too).

It’s been five years since Vision’s most recent appearance. When he flew into the skies in the closing moments of WandaVision, he was a changed man – or, well, android; a resurrected synthezoid crafted for fighting, he had his memories restored by a magical version of himself that Wanda had created for her Westview Hex. What he doesn’t have is the emotions attached to these memories, and VisionQuest‘s purpose will be to have him find his “soul” once again – something that his old enemy Ultron may or may not be able to help him with.

In doing so, he will cross paths with the other one of his and Wanda’s twin sons, Tommy Shepard (a.k.a. Tommy Maximoff) – a journey which could very well lead him to crossing paths with Billy and Agatha, bringing the WandaVision Trilogy full-circle and setting the stage for that long-awaited Maximoff family reunion. A reunion that will presumably see Vision and his sons (and perhaps Agatha) set out to find Wanda, who hasn’t been seen since she seemingly brought Mount Wundagore down on herself in2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Speaking of Doctor Strange 2, that served as Wanda’s direct WandaVision sequel (while Agatha All Along expanded on other areas of her ongoing arc). Now, it’s VisionQuest‘s turn to do the same for the series’ other protagonist, catching us up with the White Vision after all these years.

We can’t wait to see him back in action!

VisionQuest arrives on Disney Plus on October 14, 2026.
