Kristen Stewart was asked to pick between Edward and Jacob while reflecting on her years as Bella Swan

Kristen Stewart has finally addressed the question that has followed her since the beginning of the Twilight phenomenon, but fans hoping for a passionate Team Edward or Team Jacob declaration may be disappointed.
Nearly two decades after she first played Bella Swan, Stewart was asked once again to choose between the two central romantic figures from Stephenie Meyer’s vampire saga. Her response was far less interested in the rivalry that defined a huge part of the franchise’s fandom.
While appearing on Condé Nast Traveler, Stewart was confronted with the familiar Team Edward versus Team Jacob debate. Rather than picking Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen or Taylor Lautner’s Jacob Black, the actress made it clear that she has no interest in pretending she has spent years carefully weighing the two fictional characters.
“Imagine if I had an answer to that ready?” Stewart said. She then joked about what it would mean if she had seriously considered the question before ultimately arriving at the conclusion that she did not care about choosing a side saying, “Like imagine I was like ‘I really have thought about this and I have fallen on the side of I dont give a f**ck.'”
The response is particularly fitting for Stewart, whose relationship with Twilight has changed considerably since the first film arrived in 2008. She was still a teenager when she began playing Bella and spent five films at the centre of the franchise’s love triangle.
Edward and Jacob became two of the most recognisable romantic rivals in young adult entertainment, with the debate spreading far beyond the books and films. Fans divided themselves into Team Edward and Team Jacob, while Stewart’s Bella remained at the centre of the fictional conflict.
Stewart’s latest response, however, sidesteps the rivalry entirely. Instead of revisiting the old fandom battle, she has previously spoken about Twilight with a surprising amount of affection and has even said she would be willing to play Bella again while appearing on In Your Dreams With Owen Thiele.
“I love it, I would do it again,” Stewart said during the same conversation when discussing the possibility of returning to the franchise.
That admission adds another layer to her latest Team Edward versus Team Jacob response. Stewart may still love Twilight, but that does not mean she feels compelled to take part in its most famous fictional debate.
The actress has also expressed interest in approaching the original story from behind the camera. Earlier in 2026, she said she would like to direct a remake of Twilight, while praising Catherine Hardwicke’s work on the first film and the distinctive qualities of the movies that followed.
The Team Edward versus Team Jacob question has also continued to follow Stewart’s former co star Robert Pattinson. While promoting The Drama with Zendaya in March, Pattinson was asked about the same rivalry. Zendaya immediately chose Team Edward, prompting Pattinson to joke, “No one’s Team Jacob. That was just a marketing thing.”
Stewart’s response is considerably less definitive. Instead of declaring allegiance to either vampire or werewolf, she essentially refuses to treat the decades old fandom debate as something requiring a serious answer.
For fans who have spent years wondering where Bella Swan’s real life counterpart stands, that may be the most Kristen Stewart answer possible. She remains open to the world of Twilight, but when it comes to choosing between Edward and Jacob, she is firmly uninterested in playing along.
