Disney’s big showcase at D23 2026 featured major Marvel Studios announcements, including news about the X-Men reboot cast and the upcoming series VisionQuest. The MCU is fast approaching the end of the Multiverse Saga with the release of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, and audiences are eager to learn more about everything coming from the MCU’s sixth phase and beyond.

Marvel Studios had a grand showing at San Diego Comic-Con last month, with a focus primarily on Avengers: Doomsday, Ghost Rider, and Black Panther 3. Expectations were high to see what else the studio would show off at Disney’s dedicated D23 event.

Marvel fever had already taken over the D23 show floor, with displays dedicated to several upcoming MCU projects. One activation catching a lot of attention was for VisionQuest, with Paul Bettany’s updated White Vision costume from the show on display and a mysterious booth that seems to hint at a third Human Torch in the MCU.

Similar to Comic-Con, Marvel Studios also has a setup dedicated to its December blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday, with a brand-new second outfit for Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom on the show floor.

The extensive Avengers: Doomsday display also featured new looks at costumes for other Marvel heroes, some of whom were not previously on display at past conventions, including X-Men heroes Nightcrawler and Mystique.

As part of the D23 schedule, Marvel Studios shared new information & reveals on multiple upcoming MCU projects during Disney’s Entertainment Showcase on Friday, August 14, which started at 7 p.m. PT / 10 p.m. ET. However, Marvel Studios’ portion of the panel didn’t begin until after 11 p.m. ET.

All the Marvel Studios Announcements at the D23 Entertainment Showcase

The D23 Disney Entertainment Showcase began with updates from all corners of the Disney universe, including Pixar, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and more. Then, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige took the stage to discuss…

    VisionQuest

The first project off the rank was VisionQuest. “This year, we close out a trilogy of shows that started withWandaVision, continued withAgatha All Along, and now Vision gets his own series on Disney+ this October,” Feige said.

Feige was joined by series stars Paul Bettany (Vision) and James Spader (Ultron) on stage. Bettany joked that after Vision’s many deaths in the MCU,“no one is ever really dead.”The longtime MCU star added that this version of Vision is asking, “What or who is he? What is it that makes us human?”

Spader also spoke about his return as the robot villain Ultron, saying, “apparently we’re going to figure out humanity together,” adding that Ultron has always been fascinated by humanity.

The first official trailer for VisionQuest was screened to the room and is also available to watch online.

    Avengers: Doomsday

The highly anticipated blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday was next, starting with a video message from Deadpool & Wolverine star Hugh Jackman. Ryan Reynolds (who appeared in costume as Deadpool at last month’s San Diego Comic-Con) could be heard talking off-screen.

“They have 20-some people, why do they need us?” The Deadpool & Wolverine stars joked. “I’d love to join, and I might be able to convince Ryan [Reynolds] to appear,” Jackman said. The clip ended with no further confirmation of whether the two will appear in Avengers: Doomsday.

Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, and Robert Downey Jr. appeared on the stage to introduce the new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, which closely resembled the one shown weeks ago at Comic-Con.

The trailer has been released online and can be seen below:

    Marvel’s X-Men Reboot

Following her debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sadie Sink appeared at D23 to discuss Marvel’s X-Men movie reboot, alongside director Jake Schreier.

The discussion began with the reveal of a new logo for the X-Menmovie and confirmation that it will be released on May 5, 2028, making it the first film of MCU Phase 7 so far.

Sink was then joined by six new cast members, including:

    • Kit Connor as Cyclops
    • Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier/Professor X
    • Samara Weaving as Emma Frost
    • Inde Navarrette as Rogue
    • Maya Boyd as Storm
    • Adam Driver as Nathaniel Milbury, aka Mister Sinister (appearing via video).

Marvel’s portion of the D23 Disney Entertainment Showcase was short and sweet but no less impactful.

The confirmation of the X-Men cast and the reveal of the film’s release date have been the subject of months of speculation, and fans finally have an idea of how the X-Men will come together in the MCU. Additionally, Marvel Studios finally released some trailers that had been kept behind closed doors, allowing viewers to see new footage for the studio’s remaining live-action projects: VisionQuest (which may be Marvel’s last live-action series for a while) and Avengers: Doomsday.

The back-to-back events of San Diego Comic-Con and D23 are typically when Marvel Studios makes its big announcements. With both of these out of the way, it’s possible Marvel may next appear at New York Comic-Con in the Fall, potentially to discuss Daredevil: Born Again Season 3.
