Marvel Studios has unveiled a special look at Avengers: Doomsday, giving fans a closer glimpse at Robert Downey Jr.’s highly anticipated transformation into Victor von Doom, during the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The reveal has further heightened anticipation for the next major chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with Downey Jr. set to return in a role far removed from his iconic Iron Man persona.
Avengers: Doomsday new promo
The special look was unveiled onstage by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige alongside Academy Award winner Robert Downey Jr., who plays Victor von Doom/Doctor Doom, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers and Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter. The presentation offered fans a first major glimpse at the new MCU supervillain and hinted at the scale of the conflict that will unfold in the upcoming Avengers film.
The promo places Doctor Doom firmly at the centre of the story, establishing Downey Jr.’s character as the ultimate threat facing the MCU’s heroes. While specific plot details remain under wraps, the footage reportedly features Sue Storm, played by Vanessa Kirby, setting the stage for Doctor Doom’s villainous arc. It also teases an explosive confrontation between Doom and Thor, played by Chris Hemsworth, suggesting that the villain will go up against some of the MCU’s most powerful heroes.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday brings together an enormous ensemble cast spanning different corners of Marvel’s cinematic universe. Alongside Downey Jr., Evans and Hemsworth, the film stars Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Hayley Atwell, Tom Hiddleston, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Kathryn Newton, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, Mabel Cadena and Tenoch Huerta Mejia.
The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Jonathan Schwartz. With the Russo brothers returning to direct and a cast that combines established MCU favourites with characters from different universes, Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s biggest cinematic events.
According to the official description, heroes from three distinct universes will be brought together and placed on a deadly collision course as they face an existential threat unlike anything they have encountered before. The premise sets the stage for a multiversal conflict of unprecedented proportions, with Doctor Doom emerging as a key figure in the battle.
