Something new appears to be on the way for Attack on Titan. Wit Studio, which produced the anime’s first three seasons, has released a mysterious teaser visual featuring Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert, Levi Ackerman, Erwin Smith, and Hange Zoë, along with the date August 20, 2026.
The visual offers few clues about what is being announced. One detail that has caught fans’ attention is Mikasa wearing an eyepatch, an appearance that does not match her usual design. The teaser is accompanied by the caption, “They, during ‘that time,’ are said to hold a special dinner,” hinting at an untold story involving the Scout Regiment.
Exactly what Wit Studio is teasing is unknown. It could be an original animation, a special short, a promotional project, or something entirely different. More details are expected on August 20.
The announcement comes shortly after the franchise revealed Attack on Titan 3, a new video game being developed with MAPPA’s involvement.
Created by Hajime Isayama, Attack on Titan began serialisation in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2009 and concluded in 2021 with 34 collected volumes. Set in a world where humanity survives behind enormous walls to escape giant humanoid Titans, the story follows Eren Yeager and the Scout Regiment as they uncover the truth behind the Titans and their own history.
The anime adaptation debuted in 2013, with Wit Studio producing the first three seasons before MAPPA took over for The Final Season. Over the years, the franchise has expanded beyond the manga and anime with novels, spin-off manga, live-action films, video games, and Attack on Titan: The Musical. It remains one of the most successful anime and manga series of the past decade, with more than 140 million manga copies in circulation worldwide.
