Formula E has signed a major agreement with Disney+ to become the global streaming partner for the championship in Season 13. The multi-year agreement was signed by both parties alongside ESPN+ , the streaming partner for Formula E in the USA.

This landmark deal’s confirmation came through in a special episode on Good Morning America featuring Andretti’s Jake Dennis and Cupra Kiro’s Pepe Martí speaking on the show. The announcement was later confirmed by Beth Paretta, former VP of Sporting at Formula E and current Managing Director at Citroën Racing.

Disney+ is a major global entertainment platform, with its streaming ecosystem present in as many as 144 countries. Formula E’s latest announcement of airing its races on the platform come as a timely boost, given the fillip the championship is carrying into Formula E’s Gen4 era.

“This is a landmark moment for Formula E and reflects the incredible momentum behind our Championship,” said Jeff Dodds, Chief Executive Officer, Formula E.

“As we enter the GEN4 era, this provides an exceptional platform to accelerate our global growth and continue building one of the world’s most exciting sports properties,” he commented, speaking on the announcement.

Disney+ will join Formula E’s broadcast rights from next season alongside other existing partners around the world, allowing fans to catch the racing action either on television or on a digital streaming platform. It also brings the entire sport under one streaming umbrella, allowing worldwide access to the sport through a single racing platform.

Fans will also be able to enjoy all the racing action at their disposal, including Free Practice, Qualifying, and Formula E’s new Unleashed race format on the platform next year, apart from dedicated platform specific coverage behind-the-scenes, in the lead-up to the race weekend, or post-weekend analysis shows.

More importantly, the landmark deal showcases Formula E’s desire to grow the sport to newer audiences, as it takes a transformational step into the Gen4 era, and attempts to bring the sport to millions of viewers to kick off the upcoming season.

“This agreement reflects the global demand for Formula E. Disney’s unprecedented scale complements our valued linear TV broadcast network, allowing us to serve core markets locally while accelerating our digital footprint globally and bringing our fans closer to the action than ever before,” saidMichaella Snoeck, Chief Media Officer at Formula E.

Dodds also expanded on Formula E’s desire to work with the streaming platform to unlock newer opportunities to bring the sport to its audiences.

“We’re also excited by the opportunity to explore additional ways for Formula E and Disney to work together beyond live race coverage, creating even more innovative and engaging experiences for fans in the years ahead,” he said, expanding on the announcement.

Formula E has been yearning for unified coverage across a global platform for years, and has been taking several steps to improve the accessibility of the sport, including maintaining its free-to-air status in order to attract broadcasters from around the world.

“Formula E combines world-class competition, groundbreaking technology, and sustainability in a way that’s unlike any other sport. We’re excited to help power the Championship’s next chapter on Disney+ and to give fans around the globe front row access to every adrenaline-fuelled race as it happens,” commented Joe Earley, Co-President, Direct-to-Consumer, Disney Entertainment.

Disney+ currently streams several regional motorsport championships, apart from MotoGP in the Latin American region as well as parts of Asia. The platform also featured documentaries such as MotoGP Unlimited, a series following the course of MotoGP’s championship.

The platform also aired the four-part Formula One series, Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story, showcasing the improbable tale of the Brawn GP Formula One team’s championship-winning 2009 season.

This also bodes well for Formula E, who have attempted to enter the docu-series space through their web series, Formula E: Driver, which aired on Amazon Prime Video in 2025. Formula E has also reported on a mini series following the story of Cupra Kiro’s Season 12 campaign that will be released after the season comes to a close.

The championship’s Gen4 era is set to kick off at Jeddah on December 18 and 19, 2026, with its longest ever campaign at 21 races ending in the night of Tokyo in July 2027. The championship will be looking for a spectacular debut for the new Gen4 car, and looking to bring newer audiences into the sport and continue growing its global status.
