A summer seasonal illustration has been unveiled for the upcomingInherit the WindsTV anime series, highlighting Sanosuke, Heisuke,Shinpachi, and Kurosuke fishing in the river. The anime is scheduled topremiere in Japan in January 2027.
A previous spring-themed illustration, featuring Hijikata Toshizo and Kondo Isami, was released in April 2026.
Tomohiro Kawamura(Air Bound) is directing the anime series, withEbina Fumias character designer. The story is inspired by the Tachikawa Jinsuke stage play series byYutaka Narui, who is also in charge of writing the scripts for the series. The anime will be co-produced byLive2D Creative StudioandDrive.

Inherit the Windswas first announced at Aniplex Online Fest in September 2025. The anime takes place during the third year of the Bunkyu era at atime of unrest in Japan. It follows an amnesiac called Tachikawa Jinsuke, whose recollection of his memories have large consequences.
