TWICE member Jeongyeon is set to leave JYP Entertainment after spending much of her career with the agency, announcing the move in a handwritten letter on August 10.
Jeongyeon said she had decided to leave JYP Entertainment and begin a new chapter at another agency.
On the same day, she signed an exclusive contract with Baro Entertainment, which also represents her older sister, actress Gong Seung-yeon.
Baro Entertainment said, “We are sincerely delighted to form a precious bond with Jung Ye-jeong, who possesses diverse charm and infinite potential.”
The agency added, “As a reliable partner, we will provide unwavering support in all aspects to ensure that Jung Ye-jeong can smoothly continue not only her new challenges as an actress based on the global presence she has built over many years as an artist, but also her group activities.”
In her letter, Jeongyeon said, “After spending a long time together with JYP since my teenage years until now, I am planning to leave and start anew in a new place.”
She reassured fans that the move would not affect her commitment to TWICE, writing, “Although I am moving my home base and starting a new challenge, TWICE, which is the most important center within me, will remain unchanged as it is now.”
Jeongyeon debuted with TWICE in 2015, alongside members Nayeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu. The group has since released major hits including “Cheer Up”, “TT” and “What Is Love?”.
According to StarNews, TWICE members previously renewed their contracts with JYP Entertainment in 2022, while their individual activities have expanded in recent years.
Jeongyeon said she would continue preparing for both her personal career and future activities with TWICE, adding, “There will be many more times we can create together in the future, so I will work hard to fill these precious moments even more beautifully.”
