There’s no denying that July delivered some major entertainment highlights. From the highly anticipated Legally Blonde prequel Elle to the star-studded drama The Five Star Weekend, there was plenty to keep us glued to our screens. But one series has quietly earned major praise from both critics and viewers, and somehow it feels like not enough people are talking about it. That show? Ride or Die.
The Prime Video action-comedy series follows best friends Debbie (Octa and Judith (Hannah Waddingham). After a hit goes wrong and someone from Judith’s past resurfaces, Debbie discovers that her longtime friend of 20 years is secretly an international assassin. The revelation sends the duo on a chaotic road trip across Europe filled with danger, laughs and plenty of unexpected twists
Ride or Die premiered on Prime Video on July 15, with all eight episodes dropping at once, making it the perfect binge-watch for anyone looking for their next weekend obsession. And the reviews speak for themselves. The series currently holds an impressive 97 percent critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, along with an 83 percent audience score.
“One of the best shows ever made. Insane attention to details, beautiful endlessly interesting scenery. The acting is beyond,” one viewer raved. Another added, “This was great, so easy to watch, nice glow- hilarious too and loved the story!”
“This is one of my most favorite action series now and I truly hope there will be season 2,” a third viewer wrote.
The series even landed at #3 on PureWow’s list of the best shows of July, with VP of News and Entertainment Phil Mutz praising the series, saying, “This is the buddy action-comedy I’ve always dreamed of. Ride or Die is incredibly funny and so fun to watch… There are lots of twists, lots of laughs and lots of Waddingham kicking ass.”
