September 2026 is taking a similar shape to August, in that this month will also be dominated by Netflix’s weekly anime releases. However, September will finally see the long-awaited release of Steel Ball Run, the seventh story arc of the much-beloved JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series.

We also have an ongoing preview of anime you can look forward to watching on Netflix in 2026.

New Weekly Anime Coming to Netflix in September 2026

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run

    Episodes: 11
Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy | Runtime: 23 minutes
Cast: Shougo Sakata, Youhei Azakami, Kaito Ishikawa, Rie Takahashi, Tomokazu Sugita
Netflix Release Date: September 25, 2026

After the controversial one-episode release back in March 2026 sparked a major fan backlash, Netflix has seemingly learned its lesson, as Steel Ball Run has been confirmed for a weekly release. The confirmed 11 episodes will cover the second and third stages of the race, where Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli will take on a grueling challenge in the form of a 750-mile-long desert known as the “Devils’ Palm.”

Returning Weekly Anime on Netflix in September 2026

    Chainsmoker Cat (Season 1)

    Episodes: 12 (weekly)
Genre: Comedy | Runtime: 23 minutes
Cast: Yuuko Natsuyoshi, Misato Matsuoka, Tetsu Inada, Yurie Funato, Riko Akechi
Netflix Finale Date:September 18, 2026| New Episodes: Fridays

Arguably one of the most divisive anime of the Summer, Chainsmoker Cat has attracted the attention of many online. Still, arguably one of the most intriguing anime titles to land on Netflix this year, we’re incredibly curious to see how the story concludes, and if Yani will ever get her life together.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm (Season 1)

    Episodes: 24
Genre: Action, Adventure | Runtime: 23 Minutes
Cast: Kensho Ono, Yume Miyamoto, Takako Honda, Misaki Kuno, Rikiya Koyama
Netflix Finale Date:December 12, 2026*| New Episodes: Saturdays

Daemons of the Shadow Realm’s release on Netflix coincided with the release of the second cour (or part 2) of the Japanese broadcast. This means that there are still plenty of episodes remaining for the series, which should take its Netflix release all the way up to December 2026.

Twins Yuru and Asa are separated in an isolated village. After a deadly attack targets Yuru, they flee, but he is confronted by a woman claiming to be his true twin. Aided by an outsider, Yuru summons powerful daemons to uncover the hidden truth behind the village’s mysterious assault.

One Piece: Elbaf Arc (Part 1)

    Episodes: 13
Genre: Shōnen | Runtime: 24 Minutes
Cast: Mayumi Tanaka, Akemi Okamura, Kazuya Nakai, Horoaki Hirata, Kappei Yamaguchi
Netflix Finale Date: October 10, 2026 | New Episodes: Saturdays

With the second cour in full swing, fans still have plenty to enjoy before Part 1 of the Elbaf Arc wraps up in October 2026. Savor every moment while you can, with One Piece shifting to a seasonal format; the anime will go on hiatus for the rest of the year before finally returning sometime in 2027.

    Thunder 3 (Season 1)

    Episodes: 12
Genre: Mystery, Sci-Fi, Supernatural | Runtime: 23 minutes
Cast: Honoka Mitsubachi, Eri Akiyama, Natsumi Kawaida, Sayumi Suzushiro
Netflix Finale Date: September 24, 2026 | New Episodes: Sundays

“Thunder 3 is a story centered on the unbreakable bond between three childhood friends as they embark on a desperate search for a missing girl. The series follows Pyontaro, an ordinary middle schooler, and his two best friends, Tsubame and Hiroshi—a trio known as the Small 3. Their lives are upended when Pyontaro’s cheerful younger sister, Futaba, suddenly vanishes. Joining forces to find her, their search quickly escalates into a profound adventure that takes them far beyond their wildest imagination.”
