During San Diego Comic-Con, Titan Comics revealed a Kull series, starring Conan the Barbarian’s Atlantean precursor, by writer John Arcudi (The Mask, B.P.R.D.), artist Mark Buckingham (Fables), and colorist Dave Stewart. No plot details were provided for the comic, but it will debut in early 2027, and artwork for the first issue, as well as a map of Kull’s world (the Thurian Age) were released:

Created by Robert E. Howard in 1929 (three years before Conan’s debut), Kull has starred in multiple comics from Marvel, Dark Horse, and IDW since 1971. This will mark the hero’s first series from Titan, although he was previously featured in the publisher’s 2025 event comic Conan the Barbarian: Scourge of the Serpent. Another Conan miniseries, Tides of the Tyrant King, will begin in the meantime on September 23.

In more pulp hero news from Titan, the company announced a new initiative of books based on the works of Tarzan and John Carter of Mars creator Edgar Rice Burroughs. Created in collaboration with Burroughs’s estate, the line will launch in Summer 2027 with a new comic starring John Carter’s love interest Dejah Thoris. There will also be new paperback editions of the Edgar Rice Burroughs Authorized Library, his unfinished work, illustrated books, and omnibuses.

Jim Sullos, the President of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., comments, “We’ve enjoyed a successful relationship with Titan across a variety of publications over the years, but this is our most ambitious collaboration yet — a comprehensive publishing program with a vision that extends well into the future. We couldn’t be more pleased to strengthen this partnership and embark on this exciting new journey together.”

Andrew Sumner, Titan’s chief operating officer, adds, “This publishing program represents one of the most ambitious celebrations of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ work in decades. Our goal is to honor the author’s extraordinary legacy while introducing his unforgettable stories to a new generation of readers.”

Burroughs, Inc. previously collaborated with Dynamite on multiple comics starring John Carter and Dejah Thoris (especially her) since 2014, including the current series Altered States: Warlords, which also includes Tarzan. The estate also recently partnered with Alien Books on the currently running Tarzan Beyond.
