Andrew Guest said that “contracts were signed” and “schedules were cleared” before the unexpected scrapped

Wonder Man co-creator Andrew Guest has broken his silence after Marvel abruptly cancelled the Disney+ series, insisting the decision is genuine and not part of a publicity campaign.

Guest addressed fans in a TikTok video after reports emerged that Marvel had reversed its earlier renewal for a second season. Responding to speculation that the cancellation could be a promotional tactic, he said: “This is not a marketing stunt.” He added that “contracts were signed” and “schedules were cleared” before the series was unexpectedly scrapped.

The cancellation came as a shock because Wonder Man had already been renewed for a second season earlier this year. Writers had begun mapping out future storylines before Marvel and Disney+ decided not to move forward with the project as part of the studio’s evolving television strategy.

Guest praised the cast and crew for their work on the series, saying everyone involved had poured their hearts into the project. He encouraged fans to continue watching the show’s first season, expressing gratitude for the support it has received since premiering on Disney+.

The series starred Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, alongside Ben Kingsley, and followed a struggling actor with superhuman abilities navigating life in Hollywood. Despite earning strong reviews and an Emmy nomination for Abdul-Mateen, the show will not return for a second season.
