‘Lost In Mandala’: Nepal’s first animated feature film to reach audiences through Apple Entertainment

Lost In Mandala, an animated fantasy adventure inspired by the spiritual traditions, mythology and landscapes of the Himalayas, is bringing a story rooted in Nepal to the global stage.
Created as Nepal’s first animated feature film for the global market, the film combines a culturally distinctive setting with a universal story of friendship, compassion, courage and self-discovery.
The film follows a twelve-year-old girl and her friends who find themselves trapped in a mysterious alternate dimension. As they encounter a sinister dark force, the friends must navigate an unfamiliar world and discover the power of love and compassion to overcome the threat and save their world.
The story draws on Nepal’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage while building a fantastical world designed to resonate with viewers across generations and geographies.
Apple Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., one of Nepal’s leading theatrical film distributors, is the official distribution partner for Lost In Mandala in Nepal and select international territories. The partnership will bring the film to the big screen through Apple Entertainment’s established theatrical distribution network, adding a locally rooted animated title with international ambitions to its portfolio.
The project marks a significant development for Nepal’s animation and creative sectors, demonstrating the potential to transform the country’s stories, mythology and visual heritage into feature-length productions designed for international audiences.
Lost In Mandala also brings together creative expertise from Nepal and Hollywood, combining local storytelling with experience from some of the world’s leading film and visual effects productions.

The film is created and directed by Mr. Kiran Bhakta Joshi, Founder and Co-CEO of Incessant Rain Studios and former Visual Effects Supervisor at Walt Disney Studios. Joshi worked on acclaimed productions including The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
With Lost In Mandala, he is bringing his international experience in visual effects and filmmaking to a project rooted in the cultural landscape of his home country.
The screenplay is whose Hollywood credits include Thor, X-Men: First Class and Netflix’s Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. His other credits include Rim of the World, Agent Cody Banks, and television series including Fringe, The Flash and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Ms. Deepa Chipalu Joshi, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Incessant Rain Studios, serves as Producer. An Executive VFX Producer, her credits include Yellowstone, Gangs of London and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. She oversees the film’s production and international partnerships.
Lost In Mandala is being developed by Incessant Rain Studios in partnership with NIMB Ace Capital, bringing together creative, production and financial expertise to develop the project for international markets.
For Apple Entertainment, the partnership builds on its position as a distributor of international cinema in Nepal. The company is the official distribution partner for major Hollywood studios including Disney, Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros., as well as other global entertainment companies.
Through its rights for Lost In Mandala in Nepal and select international territories, Apple Entertainment will support the film’s theatrical journey and help introduce a Nepal-originated animated feature to a wider cinema-going audience.
With its distinctive visual world, Himalayan setting and internationally experienced creative team, Lost In Mandala represents an ambitious new chapter for animation from Nepal. The film brings together local cultural inspiration and global filmmaking expertise to tell a story whose central message, choosing compassion and connection in the face of darkness—can travel far beyond its place of origin.
