Digimon announces brand-new anime for 30th anniversary
A brand-new Digimon anime is officially in the works and is scheduled to premiere in 2027 as part of the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
The Digital Monster franchise began with the release of the original virtual pet device in 1997, followed by the debut of the Digimon Adventure television anime in 1999. Since then, the series has grown to feature more than 1,000 digital monsters, with stories centered around friendship, adventure, and personal growth that have resonated with fans across generations.
An entirely original production, the upcoming anime follows the currently airing DIGIMON BEATBREAK.
To commemorate the franchise’s 30th anniversary, Bandai also announced the launch of the Digimon 30th Anniversary Project. As part of the 30th anniversary celebration, fans around the world voted for their favorite episodes from four classic Digimon series. The highest-ranked episodes will be rebroadcast on Fuji TV beginning October 4.
