Mark your calendars, the pre-Grand Theft Auto VI rush is about to get even busier as another AAA release is rumoured to be released in September.

To avoid being overshadowed by all the hype surrounding Grand Theft Auto VI, many publishers are either bringing their games forward to release between August and October, or are pushing them back into 2027.

Games like Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis and Fable are examples of games that were delayed to accommodate this, while Control: Resonant, Marvel‘s Wolverine, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword all launch in September.

As if the September rush wasn’t already bad enough, a new leaked retail listing suggests there might be another AAA release landing in that month.

According to a listing on Amazon Japan, the Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light may be launching on September 16th.

If you scroll down on the Amazon listing, the date is featured underneath “Product Details”. We’ve included a screenshot below to confirm.

Of course, be aware that this may be a placeholder date and is subject to change. We’ll know more when it’s confirmed by developer IO Interactive.

007 First Light is one of this year’s best reviewed games

Although the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S versions of 007 First Light werereleased earlier this year, the Nintendo Switch 2 version has seen a few delays over the past year.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of 007 First Light was originally announced to release alongside the other console versions on March 27, 2026.

This date was later changed to May 27, 2026, after all versions of the game were delayed in December 2025. However, the Switch 2 version received another delay in April, being pushed to “later this summer” but wasn’t given a concrete release date.

007 First Light is the first video game set in the James Bond franchise since 2012’s 007 Legends. Developed by IO Interactive, the game features a brand-new, original 007 origin story with the titular character played by Dexter: Original Sin‘s Patrick Gibson.

It has gone on to become one of this year’s best-reviewed games, with OpenCritic ratings giving it a 97% of recommendations and an average score of 87.

In our 007 First Light review from May, we said that “007 First Light is an exquisite taste of slick spy action and blockbuster storytelling, and is fully what a Bond game should be, but rarely is. Considering almost every previous James Bond game has been a shooter, I’ve enjoyed the game taking an innovative approach to portray the spycraft side of Bond stories. It’s wonderful to see IO Interactive essentially coming full circle, going from being simply inspired by Bond to adapting the next chapter in the franchise’s 70-year legacy.”

Despite the success with 007 First Light, IO Interactive recently had to make a wave of layoffs on its next game, currently titled Project Fantasy, as a result of an “external partner” (reported to be Xbox) ending its relationship with the Danish developer.
