Hasbro is further filling out the Cobra ranks this year with the release of the Desert Scorpion figure. This figure is inspired by the GI Joe Real American Hero 3 3/4 inch O-ring figure series released in 1991 and given modern new elements and accessories. Desert Scorpions must learn to live in the desert and work as a team to survive in their environment. This is used as a punishment for Vipers who disobey orders, and if they survive a year unharmed, they can return to their original rank.

The Desert Scorpion and SKRP10N-25 are packaged in a window box with logos, artwork, and images of the figure on all sides, and an action shot with a great toy photo on the back.
Desert Scorpion is inspired by the vintage O-Ring figure from the 1991 release and some of the accessories from the 1991 release as well as the 2013 release. He is also given several new elements, including a long cloak, a knife sheath, a new backpack that does not contain missiles, and an interchangeable faceplate. He wears a black, yellow, brown, and metallic gold costume, which also includes a brown belt with a metallic gold belt buckle. He is also given brown and yellow gloves, black pants with brown padding at the waist and metallic gold shinguards, brown and yellow shoes, and a vintage-inspired harness with a red grenade carved into it. This is also a brown chest armor with black straps around it. The cloak is made of soft material and is wrapped around the neck and falls down to the calves.
The head sculpt has a black visor added over the goggles, and the faceplate is metallic gold, whereas the vintage figure had a yellow mask. Also, his antennae are on the side of his head, which was also seen on vintage figures.
SKRP10N-25 also takes inspiration from his vintage figure, but has been given far more detail, articulation, and a much more menacing look compared to the original figure. He closely resembles a giant scorpion, with sculpted details and textures, 8 articulated legs, 2 articulated pinchers, shark teeth, 4 eyes, and an articulated tail with 5 ball joints. The front arm also moves with two ball joints.
In the first two images above, Desert Scorpion is fully equipped, with the backpack, Guisarme attached to the side, and taking inspiration from the accessory that came with the 2013 release, the connecting cord that connects to the side of the head (which I missed while working on the photos). A submachine gun with removable ammunition is also shown above.
The Guisarme has a long black and brown handle with a silver blade and can be held with one or both hands.
Also included is a grapple launcher with a removable hook and attached line, which is a completely new accessory for him. The faceplate shows his face for the first time, giving him a black sculpted beard and nicely done facial detail, two knives, and some new claws to replace the vintage-inspired excavator.
His articulation includes a ball-jointed head and neck, swivel-hinged and butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball-jointed torso and hips, ball-jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, and hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, Desert Scorpion and SKRP10N-25 are great figures with great similarities and updates in this scale. This is a great product for the Cobra team, so get yours now.
