Roblox’s App Now Offers Chat, Play, Discovery, and Creation in One Place
- Today, players opening Roblox in Canada, New Zealand, and Singapore will begin to see a new app home, with tabs for Moments, Chat, and Me (those in New Zealand will also see Build). Tabs will roll out globally* over the next several months.
- Moments is a new way to discover games: Players can watch gameplay clips from friends and video content creators, jumping into a fun game with one tap. Every Moment is a doorway to play.
- Chat lets players have one continuous conversation that travels seamlessly with them into a game—without leaving Roblox.
- Me brings avatar and profile into one place, making it easier for players to express themselves.
Starting today, players in Canada, New Zealand, and Singapore will begin to see a new Roblox app with tabs for Moments, Chat, and Me. These tabs will roll out globally* over the coming months. For players in New Zealand, the new Build tab, an extension of Roblox Studio offering mobile-first creation in the app, will also begin to appear today.
Every day, an average of 132 million active users come to Roblox looking to play one of millions of available games. And every day, our creator community releases even more games to try, from simulator and strategy games to high-fidelity, immersive multiplayer worlds. By matching players to the games they’ll truly enjoy and come back to again and again, we help creators build their business and find their most engaged audiences.
Outside of Roblox, people may chat or share games in places where friends have to click three times and install an app to start playing. We want players to be able to recommend, discover, and find games all in one place without the extra steps. So we’re expanding the Roblox app to support the entire flow—one place to chat with friends, see what others are playing, and click directly into a great game.
Earlier this year, we optimized our discovery and recommendation systems for games players stick with, surfacing relevant games on Roblox’s homepageaunched as a beta, we envisioned it as an additional engine for game discovery. Today, Moments becomes a dedicated tab* on Roblox. With a diverse set of content from players and video content creators. Moments creates a frictionless way to see a game and play it with just one tap

Moments: Discover and Play New Games Instantly
Moments is designed as a direct path from an exciting game to the people who will love it. Age-checked players 16 or older* can discover gameplay videos shared by friends and other players and try the game themselves with just one tap.
Brand-new in the Moments tab are high-quality Roblox content videos by select content creators, similar to the content that players see these content creators sharing elsewhere. But in Moments, these videos not only share gameplay highlights, they link directly to the games they feature, so players can start playing with a single tap. As with our other discovery systems, Moments is optimized for players to connect with the games they will love and come back to.
In the Moments tab, every post is a doorway to play. Players can click the Join button beneath each gameplay clip to start playing immediately. That’s the road to discovering a great new game.

Chat: Connect and Play Across Games
Chat is where players go to recommend games to friends, coordinate a play session, even jump into a game together. This matters because people don’t come back just for a game, they come back to connect and play with friends. When a friend says, “Hey, you have to try this game,” we want joining that game to be as easy as possible.
Today, the Chat tab will appear for all chat-eligible players. Soon, we’ll make it possible for the conversation to continue within and across games so friends can stay seamlessly connected as they play without switching apps or coordinating on different devices.
Built atop foundational features like age-checks to chat and Roblox Kids and Select accounts, Chat is available only when it’s age-appropriate for players. With Trusted Friends and real-time chat rephrasing, we’re making it easier for players of all ages to connect—with the protections that help keep them safe.

Me: Self-Expression, All in One Tab
The Avatar tab is now the Me tab, making it simple to update a player’s profile information and their avatar’s look all in one place. Here, players can choose from several new avatar backgrounds, giving them one more way to express themselves.

Build: Expanding What’s Possible on Roblox
The public alpha of the Build tab, our new in-app creation feature, starts rolling out today to age-verified users 9 and older in New Zealand. Build is a mobile-first game-creation experience designed to work alongside Studio and share the same back end, models, and chat history.
Starting today, public alpha creators can start a game on their phone in Build, then finesse it with the broader capabilities of Studio. Once the tab is fully launched, they’ll also be able to start in Studio and check on progress on their mobile device. With Build, we’re expanding not only the kinds of games Roblox supports, but who can create them.
This is the beginning of a new chapter for Roblox players, with one home for connecting with friends, discovering what their friends and favorite video content creators are playing, expressing themselves, and maybe even building something entirely new. We can’t wait to see what the community does with it.
*Availability and features will vary by age and region.
