They have made a name for themselves in the enthusiast community for offering premium features such as hot-swappable switches, gasket mounts, and built-in LCD screens.
Just a month ago, EPOMAKER officially released the EPOMAKER HE75 V2, a 75% wireless mechanical keyboard featuring an 8000Hz polling rate and ultra-precise Hall Effect switches, ideal for online competitive gaming. Its modular design lets you swap the knob for extra physical keys to suit any task. Built with a 5-layer Gasket structure and a massive 8000mAh battery, it delivers elite speed, premium acoustics, and lasting performance. We are fortunate to get our hands on the EPOMAKER HE75 V2 and see how it performs.
EPOMAKER HE75 V2 comes neatly packaged in a cardboard box with a simplistic design reminiscent of the boxes that older keyboards used to come in. Inside is the keyboard itself, a USB-A-to-USB-C braided cable, a keycap puller, additional switches, additional keycaps, a multilingual manual, and a card with QR codes on the back linking to an online manual, their Discord server, and download links for the Driver software.
The keyboard has a sleek design, with an ABS plastic body that feels tough, sturdy, and nice to hold. Underneath, there are kickstands to help angle the keyboard to suit users’ preferences and below the left kickstand is where the USB dongle is stored, which can be accessed by lifting the kickstand.
Pressing the keys feels responsive for typing, general use and especially gaming. It performs quite well for online competitive gaming, delivering top-tier, low-latency performance, comparable to the major gaming hardware brands.
The keys also sound like older keyboards with every press, giving that ASMR feel as you type or game away. Underneath the keys are RGB lights with various colours and patterns that can be customised. The keys themselves are translucent along the sides but solid on top, letting the lights shine around them while letting users see the keys clearly.
Along the top side, there is a USB-C port and a switch to change between the USB dongle, Bluetooth and wired connections. Each connection type is simple and straightforward to connect the keyboard to a PC, Mac computer and even smart devices. The keyboard is compatible with both PC and Mac computers and has the Win and Command labels plus the Alt and Option labels on the same keys, so they don’t need to be swapped out.
The EPOMAKER HE75 V2 features a unique, hot-swappable modular knob. Its default use is volume control: simply turn the dial to adjust the volume. With the Driver program, it can also be customised to be used for media control or for other uses and specific gaming functions if users wish. The dial can be removed and replaced with two extra mechanical switches and two extra keys with the Print and Insert buttons. They can also be customised to serve as dedicated macros or hotkeys for your gaming and daily workflow.
To switch between RGB light patterns, users have a few commands available. Fn + Insert switches between different lighting modes and available patterns, Fn + Delete toggles the backlighting on or off, Fn + ↑ and Fn + ↓ adjust the brightness, and Fn + – and Fn + = adjust the speed.
Having all these commands on the keyboard itself is a nice and convenient way to adjust the RGB lights, all at your fingertips. Even more customisation options are available with the Driver program.
The Driver program lets users remap keys, create macros, and customise the RGB lights. It can be downloaded for free from the official EPOMAKER website on the EPOMAKER HE75 V2 product page, and both PC and Mac versions are available. It is generally straightforward to use, though certain parts might be a bit hard to navigate. It provides a range of customisation options, though the default settings are already perfect for most users.
The EPOMAKER HE75 V2 features a massive 8,000mAh battery. With RGB lighting on, the keyboard can last around 20 to 32 hours with continuous use. With the RGB lights off, battery life increases significantly to about 500 hours. Of course, a wired connection means the battery life isn’t an issue at all, but the wireless option already provides plenty of hours of use without an extra cable in the way.
