Fun Train said it will not renew its publishing license for Tarzan VR from Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. and will delist the game from all platforms.
The Tarzan game was panned and titled “Lord of the Fumble” and earned a rare “Averted” rating in our review. The publisher is lowering the game’s price to $4.99 for as long as it can until it’s gone, and claims that if you buy it, it will “remain in your library and be fully playable” even after it’s no longer sold new. Fun Train “will no longer support the game after January 31, 2026.”
Fun Train is also the publisher of BlackGate and Jungle Man, as well as The Exorcist VR and Twilight Zone VR. BlackGate in particular has gotten off to a strong start on the Quest Store since its release late last year. Fun Train says other games are not affected.
“While we would like to renew the license and make Tarzan available to new players, the current state of the VR market makes it increasingly difficult to keep legacy titles active across platforms,” an email from Fun Train CEO Douglas Nabors said. It is not commercially viable to renew the license. ”
The game will no longer be sold on Quest, Steam, and PlayStation Stores starting January 31st.
Although we warned players to avoid this game, and they did, I paid $5 for a version of this game originally developed by Stonepunk Studios on Steam to keep in my library as a curiosity. What happens if I try to launch it standalone in Steam Frame? I’m not sure, but I wanted to keep this piece of VR history in my library before it disappears.
