Season 2 of the Josh Duhameland Minka Kelly-led series debuted on the platform on July 23 and rode its way to the top of the U.S. charts of the streaming service. While the series is sitting around the #5 spot worldwide, it has also topped the charts in other major territories, such as Australia, Canada, Denmark, and New Zealand, according to data at FlixPatrol, as of July 27.
This is perhaps no surprise, given that Season 1 of Ransom Canyon, which premiered in 2025, also topped the Netflix U.S. charts. However, some recent struggles for second seasons on Netflix — namely Beef, The Four Seasons, and A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder —mean that Season 2 success is far from promised.
Additionally, the western romance series has had some major casting changes between seasons, with Eoin Macken and Andrew Liner,who played father and son Davis and Reid Collins, seemingly exiting the show for good.
What may have bolstered viewership numbers to some degree, however, is some exciting additions to Ransom Canyon’smain cast, including Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson (Six Feet Under, Sharp Objects), Steve Howey (Shameless, High Potential), Ben Robson (Vikings, The Continental), and Heidi Engerman (9-1-1: Nashville, Chicago Fire).
The western has had some other bumps along the road, with a disappointing critics’ score of just 40% on Rotten Tomatoes for Season 2, down from the already dismal 45% for Season 2. While there’s no word so far on a Ransom CanyonSeason 3, these consistent viewership figures across seasons 1 and 2 — something of a rarity these days for a Netflix show — are rather promising for fans who want to see more of their favorite characters.
