Books with Pictures Eugene, an independent comic book store situated in 5th Street Public Market, won the 2026 Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award at San Diego Comic-Con on July 24.
The award was presented during the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards at San Diego Comic-Con International. The award is named for Will Eisner, an influential comics creator who helped popularize the term “graphic novel,” and is meant to honor stores that demonstrate excellence in customer service, community engagement, and promoting comics as a vibrant art form.

“This award is an incredible honor for all of us,” said Andréa Gilroy, owner of Books with Pictures Eugene. “Winning the Spirit of Comics Retailer Award is deeply humbling. Every day, we get to watch someone discover a story that changes how they see the world — or simply makes them smile. That’s why we’re here.”
Books with Pictures will be hosting a community celebration to celebrate their award in mid-August, with details set to be announced soon.
