Linktree rolls out a series of monetization features for creators

Linktree is releasing a series of new features aimed at helping creators earn more money directly from its platform. New tools include the ability to sell courses, monetize from branded sponsored links, and build a shoppable storefront.

The launch of the new monetization feature allows Linktree to stand out among similar platforms such as Beacons and Shorby as it expands on Linktree’s simple link-in bio offering.

This new feature will allow Linktree to compete with creator monetization platforms like Patreon.

The company has partnered with Kajabi to allow users to build and sell courses directly on Linktree. This new feature will enable creators to monetize their expertise. For example, fitness trainers can share their workout programs, or musicians can teach their skills through courses. Creators can set prices for their courses and start earning through Stripe integration.

Linktree makes it easy for creators to sell digital products such as e-books, templates, and guides. Linktree already has creator permissions, and our partnership with SendOwl has made it possible. Now, creators can sell digital products directly through Linktree without going through a third party. This means that Linktree can now charge a take rate on digital goods sold through its platform. These prices are based on your Linktree plan.

The launch of this feature comes a year after Patreon introduced the ability to sell one-time digital products to creators. Similar to courses, you can price your digital products on Linktree.

“Creators and a lot of people around the world want to share something and teach something,” Linktree CEO Alex Zaccaria told TechCrunch. “We want to make it more accessible.”

Additionally, anyone in the US on Linktree can now build a shop and earn commissions on products. Shop and earn commissions from brands like Target, Amazon, Lululemon, Revolve, and more. Alternatively, creators can choose to add affiliate links directly to their Linktree account.

Regarding the new Sponsored Links feature, brands can now pay creators directly for space on their links tree. For example, creators can get paid when their followers sign up for Hulu through Linktree. These links will be clearly labeled as “Sponsored.”

“Creators will see sponsored links that they can post on Linktree,” Zaccaria said. “Right now they’re getting paid per attribution or per conversion, but we’re also going to build that into cost per click and cost per impression. So instead of just an affiliate type of thing, there’s native advertising on Linktree.”

Linktree is also launching “Rewards,” a new incentive program that offers creators rewards such as bonus commissions when they reach certain milestones. The company notes that the program could lead to direct collaborations with brands.

All creators on Linktree will have access to a new “wallet” where they will store all of the revenue they earn from these features, Zaccaria said.

“It’s all in one wallet,” he said. “Regardless of what we do in all of our courses, we sell digital products and curate goods from sponsored links to Linktree Shops. Wallet is a new feature that has been in beta for a while now. Primarily for Linktree Shops, but now we’ve added four ways to monetize, and they all go to Wallet.”

Linktree says the features announced Wednesday will help its user base of more than 70 million people earn a sustainable income. Creators can access all new monetization features by navigating to the new Earn section of the link tree in the app or on the web.
