Excalibur #1 was published by Marvel Comics in 1988 and combines both the X-Men and Captain Britain franchises, often in the UK. The team consists of Captain Britain, Megan, and three former members of the X-Men: Shadowcat, Nightcrawler, and Rachel Summers, daughter of the second Phoenix, Jean Grey. The series ran for 125 issues until 1998, and featured the wedding of Captain Britain and Meghan, who had lost their powers.
This wave includes Astonishing X-Men Beast, Phoenix (Excalibur’s Rachel Summers), Silver Surfer, Black Widow, Daredevil, and Feral.

Phoenix is packaged on a blister card, the same type of card that appeared in the first installment of the Marvel Legends minicomic series. This includes artwork such as an image of her in comic book format on the front, the Excalibur logo, and a look at the rest of the waves and a look from the Excalibur #1 comic book cover on the back.

Phoenix (Rachel Summers) has an all-new sculpt and wears a comically accurate red costume with small silver spikes protruding from her torso and arms. The spikes have a bit of a sharp edge to them, which stands out since the rest of the costume is dark red.

She comes with two head sculpts, one of Rachel Summers and the other of Phoenix Force with black lines, eyeshadow, and yellow eyes. Both head sculpts have red lipstick and light brown hair with a small ponytail in the back.

Phoenix includes two sets of interchangeable hand sculpts, including a neutral, right closed fist, and left open grip.

A phoenix wing is also included, which you can remove from your hand and insert directly into your forearm. These are translucent yellow and red plastic sculpted to look like flames extending from the forearm.

Also included is an Excalibur #1 mini-comic with original comic artwork on the front and Marvel Legends and Hasbro logos on the back.
Her articulation is also standard for Marvel Legends from this era, including a ball-jointed head and hinged neck, ball-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball-jointed torso, ball-jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, and hinged rocker ankles.

The Excalibur team from 1988 to 1998 is nearly complete, with only Nightcrawler remaining. Hasbro released Nightcrawler in a wave of Wendigo figure production near the arrival of Excalibur, so assuming they don’t offer anything new based on this particular comic, that might be for the best. Captain Britain, Megan, and Shadowcat came as a 3-pack.
Overall, the Phoenix is a great figure with a lot of similarities and attention to detail to the original. This is an essential release for X-Men and Excalibur fans looking to complete this team. So we hope you pick up her and any additional figures from this new wave of mini-comics. Be sure to pick up Phoenix and additional figures at BigBadToyStore now!
