In its fourth major update since its release, Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow has improved its gameplay mechanics for a smoother experience.
Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow, currently available on all major platforms, has launched a 4.0 update focused on improving the gameplay experience for an overall smoother feel. Since the 3.0 patch was released a little more than two weeks ago, it’s clear that developer Maze Theory and publisher Vertigo Games are working hard, quickly applying the feedback shared to deliver a better game. Other improvements include more flexible customization options for the Steam version, including higher quality dynamic shadows and character models, as well as general quality of life bug fixes.
One of the main upgrades in this new patch is an improved crouching mechanic. As a featured ability, players are expected to spend a lot of time with this in the shadows. It hasn’t broken once since its initial release, but as I mentioned in my review, I felt that certain aspects of the game could have benefited from more time in the oven. “Objects may not load properly, such as treasure chests becoming transparent when viewed head-on, or the entire basement visually unloading when viewed too close to an adjacent wall.”

Previous upgrades primarily brought visual improvements and continued stability of the experience. There’s no mention of DLC or sequels yet, but this continued support is at least a step in the right direction.
Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow is currently available on Meta Quest, PlayStation VR2, and Steam.
