    Key Points

    • TV chef Katie Lee Biegel, an ex-wife of Billy Joel, said Chevy Chase was “not so nice” to her at a party she and Joel hosted.

    • She revealed the interaction when answering a question from listeners about her encounters with other celebrities.

    • The Daily Showcomedian Jon Stewart, however, had been “so nice,” she recalled.

Let’s just say that <a href="https://ew.com/billy-joel-wife-gave-him-ultimatum-rehab-over-drinking-11772046″ rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>Katie Lee Biegel and Chevy Chase did not hit it off.

The Food Network star and former wife of Billy Joel recounted the experience Thursday when answering a question from listeners of her All on the Table with Katie Lee Biegel podcast about her celebrity encounters over the years.

“My celebrity run-in that was not so nice was Chevy Chase,” said Biegel, who married Joel in 2004. They split in 2009.

Biegel said she and Joel were throwing an “old-school keg party” at a home they called the Sugar Shack, that they planned to tear down.

She said they “had a very fun summer there staying with friends. But then at the end of the summer, we decided to have a kind of tear-the-house-down party, keg party, and I had Jell-O shots, kegs. It was a very star-studded party.”

This is where the leading man of movies such as National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Fletch, andMemoirs of an Invisible Man entered the picture.

“My ex-husband was standing talking to Chevy Chase and his wife,” Biegel said, “and I had a tray of Jell-O shots. And I went up with the tray of Jell-O shots and said, ‘do you guys want a shot?,’ and Chevy thought that I was the staff at the party. And he took his hand and shooed me away.”

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to a rep for Chase.

The Saturday Night Livealum has long had a reputation for being difficult. Costars on the Lorne Michaels sketch show, on which he was a cast member when it debuted in 1975, and other projects, such as the 2009 sitcom Community, have spoken out over the years.

In the case of Biegel, she had a happier story about her interaction with The Daily Show‘s Jon Stewart.

“When I worked at the fish market in Sag Harbor back in 2003, my first summer in the Hamptons, my very first customer was Jon Stewart,” she recounted. “And he could not have been lovelier. He was so nice. He was patient with me.”

She noted that he had also been very polite.

“When I said, ‘Hi, how are you?,’ he asked me how I was right back,” Biegel said. “I had many customers that summer that, I would say, ‘Hi, how are you?’ And they would respond with, ‘I’m just looking.’ So, I always remembered the people who were nice. And Jon Stewart was nice.”
