Class is officially in session! As we head toward the back-to-school season, Netflix is adding the perfect campus comedy to its late-summer lineup. We’ve learned that all three seasons of the hit Max Original comedy series The Sex Lives of College Girls are officially slated to land on Netflix US on August 31st, 2026.
This upcoming release is just the latest addition in what has become a highly lucrative and incredibly popular licensing pipeline between Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix. Over the past couple of years, we’ve tracked a massive wave of premium HBO and Max titles crossing over to Netflix—including heavy hitters like Insecure, Ballers, Band of Brothers, and Six Feet Under. Now, this fan-favorite comedy is the latest WBD property getting the coveted “Netflix Bump.”
As you may know, we’re tracking everything coming to Netflix in August 2026 right here, and this new addition joins an already stacked late-summer lineup. August is shaping up to be a massive month for the streamer, with The Sex Lives of College Girls joining the likes of the fifth and final season of Outer Banks, My Life with the Walter Boys season 3, Shane Gillis’s Tires season 3, and the highly anticipated sci-fi thriller The Last House.
What is The Sex Lives of College Girls about?
If you missed this one on HBO Max (then Max and then back to HBO Max), you are in for an absolute treat. Co-created by Mindy Kaling (The Office, Never Have I Ever, and currently working on Netflix’s Running Point) and Justin Noble (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), The Sex Lives of College Girls follows four 18-year-old freshman roommates thrown together at the prestigious (and fictional) Essex College in New England.
The series is a hilarious, heartfelt, and unapologetically raunchy coming-of-age story. It perfectly captures the chaos of newly found independence, covering everything from dorm room drama and shifting identities to navigating complicated romantic and sexual exploits away from the watchful eyes of their parents.
The show features a phenomenal, breakout core cast. It stars Pauline Chalamet (The King of Staten Island) as the quirky, small-town valedictorian Kimberly; Amrit Kaur (The D Cut) as the ambitious, heavily sheltered Bela; Reneé Rapp (Mean Girls) as wealthy, closeted legacy student Leighton; and Alyah Chanelle Scott (Reboot) as Whitney, a star soccer player having a secret affair with her assistant coach.
Since its premiere in late 2021, the series has been a critical darling, consistently praised for its sharp writing, deeply relatable characters, and incredible comedic chemistry among the four leads. (It’s also worth noting that the show has seen cast shifts as the seasons progress, specifically with Reneé Rapp stepping back to a recurring role in the third season.)
The series was sadly canceled back in March 2025, and although it was reported the show was looking to be shopped to a new home, one didn’t materialize.
