Nintendo comes out on top once again

The latest gaming sales data for the United States have come in, and it gives us a look at how things went down in June 2026. Let’s kick things off with the top 20 software sales of the month. Please note that Nintendo titles mentioned in the top 20 reflect projected digital sales from Circana, and not figures provided by Nintendo.

We also have the total sales in terms of all games, accessories, hardware and more.

When it comes to hardware, we don’t have actual sales numbers, but we do have stats and placements for the platforms.
- U.S. video game total market projected spending reached $4.5 billion during June 2026, a decrease of 21% when compared to a year ago
- first half spending finished 1% behind 2025’s pace, at $27.5 billion
- June 2026 video game hardware spending declined 62% when compared to a year ago, to $383 million, driven by the Nintendo Switch 2 June 2025 launch month comparable
- the $383 million in June 2026 hardware spending compares to $1.0 billion a year ago
- Switch 2 hardware spending was 79% below the platform’s total during its June 2025 launch month
- PlayStation 5 spending fell by 19% year-on-year
- Xbox Series spending more than doubled
- Switch 2 was again the best-selling hardware platform across both units and dollars for the month and 2026 year-to-date
- PlayStation 5 ranked second across both measures and time periods
