Malayalam actor and filmmaker Joju George has addressed allegations that his wife, Abba George, operates paid public relations campaigns to promote his films. Responding to the claims, the actor dismissed the rumours and said the criticism directed at his wife was unfair and deeply upsetting.

Joju George defends wife Abba amid negative PR controversy

The controversy began after social media discussions alleged that Abba George was behind organised promotional campaigns for Joju’s projects. Some users claimed she was managing paid PR efforts to shape public opinion about his films. The allegations quickly gained traction online, prompting Joju to respond publicly.

In an interview with Mathrubhumi, Joju firmly denied the claims and clarified that his wife has no involvement in handling publicity for his films. He said she has always preferred to stay away from the limelight and does not interfere in his professional decisions or promotional strategies.

Expressing his disappointment over the accusations, Joju said he found it painful that his family had been dragged into unnecessary controversy. He stressed that his wife should not be subjected to personal attacks over unfounded speculation, adding that she has supported him throughout his journey without seeking attention or recognition.

    All about the controversy

The actor also reflected on the increasing culture of online criticism, saying social media often amplifies rumours without any factual basis. According to Joju, people are quick to make assumptions, and misinformation spreads rapidly before the truth has a chance to emerge. He urged audiences to avoid believing every claim circulated online and to verify facts before forming opinions. With his recent film Varavu.

Joju further explained that the success or failure of a film ultimately depends on the audience rather than promotional campaigns. While publicity plays a role in creating awareness, he believes viewers decide whether a film succeeds based on its content. He maintained that no amount of paid promotion can sustain a project that fails to connect with audiences.

The actor’s remarks come amid discussions about the growing influence of PR and digital marketing in the entertainment industry. As actors increasingly rely on social media to engage with fans, conversations around publicity strategies have become more prominent. However, Joju insisted that his family should not be made the target of such debates.

On the professional front, Joju George continues to balance acting and filmmaking, taking on a mix of commercial and content-driven projects. He remains one of Malayalam cinema’s most respected performers, known for his versatility and powerful screen presence.
