With the new “Avengers: Doomsday” trailer having just launched, a big Marvel presentation at Comic-Con this Saturday, and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” hitting cinemas next week, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has stepped out of cryostasis and begun media interviews to talk up the MCU’s future.

Speaking with Josh Horowitz for his Happy Sad Confused podcast, Feige touched upon a number of topics and shot down some recent rumors in the process.

First up, “Avengers: Secret Wars” will not be split into a two-parter, with Feige debunking that one plainly: “Not in this world.”

He also shot down talk that ‘Secret Wars’ will herald an MCU reboot. Asked if such a possibility will happen, Feige said:

“No. But I look to the comics like I always do, in terms of our storytelling. And after both the ‘Secret Wars,’ but particularly the [Jonathan] Hickman ‘Secret Wars’ from 10 years ago, there’s a nice roadmap to where we can go.”

Then there are the recent rumours of Adam Driver playing either Magneto or Mr. Sinister in the “X-Men” films. Driver was also famously linked to Mr. Fantastic prior to Pedro Pascal being cast.

Feige says Driver has essentially been a regular candidate for multiple MCU films, and has always passed on them to the point that it has become a ‘tradition’:

“Many, many, many [conversations]…It’s no secret we’d like to [work with him], but it’s a tradition to zoom with him and passes. That’s a long-lived tradition. It couldn’t be any more cordial. He’s usually upfront about how he’s feeling.”

Finally, Feige was also asked about the long-delayed reboot of “Blade” starring Mahershala Ali. Ali was officially announced for the Blade role back in 2019 but the project has seen multiple creative setbacks since. Feige owns that failure though:

“I’m feeling very excited that we got Wesley back for a time in Deadpool & Wolverine, and like a gigantic loser and failure that we didn’t get off the ground with Mahershala.”

“Avengers: Doomsday” is set to be released on December 18th with “Avengers: Secret Wars” beginning a shoot later this year ahead of a December 17th 2027 opening.
