45 Of The Most Anticipated New & Returning Scripted Shows of 2026

2026 is a big year for TV, and that’s saying something as two of the most popular recent shows — Netflix’s Stranger Things and Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty — concluded their stories in 2025 (unless the upcoming The Summer I Turned Prettymovie is taken into account, but that is a film and not part of the show)

January alone boasted the return of such HBO/HBO Max dramas as The Pittand Industry and the premiere of Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. And how could we forget the fourth season of Netflix’s Bridgerton — split into two parts again this round — or Season 3 of Apple’s comedy Shrinking?

February had Peacock’s Keke Palmer-starring remake of The Burbs, Season 3 of The Night Agent and Season 2 of Apple’s book adaptation drama The Last Thing He Told Me in store. March and April were pretty packed too. And it doesn’t stop in May, with several beloved book adaptations coming to the small screen in the latter months of spring

Summer will bring about some Western shows from the Netflix reimagining of Little House on the Prairie to the third season of My Life With the Walter Boys. DC’s Lanterns will premiere in August ahead of Apple TV’s Dark Matter Season 2, which follows in the footsteps of the third season of sci-fi adaptation Silo on the streamer

Here are the most anticipated new and returning scripted TV series on their way next year, and stay tuned as we add titles throughout 2026 when dates are announced

• ‘Little House on the Prairie’ – Netflix, July 9

  
  

  The Ingalls are making a long-awaited return in Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie reboot based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic semi-autobiographical novels. Described as part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale and part origin story of the American West, the new Little House On the Prairie stars Alice Halsey (Lessons in Chemistry, Days of Our Lives) as Laura Ingalls, Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls, Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls and Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls

  Little House on the Prairie Season 1 will debut July 9, and it has already been renewed for a second season

• ‘The Five-Star Weekend,’ Peacock – July 9

  Based on the book by Elin Hildebrand, Peacock’s The Five-Star Weekend will see all eight episodes arrive on the streamer July 9, a week earlier than the originally planned July 16. Jennifer Garner leads the show as Hollis Shaw, an influencer chef of sorts, who gathers four friends from each decade of her life for the eponymous event, a weekend to celebrate life and friendship together

• ‘Ted Lasso’ – Apple TV, August 5

  Get ready for more of a seriously feel-good football show that made it big on Apple TV. With production having begun in July 2025, viewers can look forward to more soccer and more moments between Jeremy Swift’s Leslie Higgins, Hannah Waddingham’s Rebecca Welton, Juno Temple’s Keeley Jones and Jason Sudeikis’ titular football-turned-soccer coach in a fourth season of one of Apple’s biggest shows

  Hannah Waddingham told Deadline that August 2026 is likely the target release month after summer was hinted as the window that Season 4 will arrive. Three seasons are planned for the new storyline beginning in Season 4

• ‘Sterling Point,’ Prime Video – August 5

  Megan Park, writer and director of My Old Ass, has Sterling Point, a YA series, premiering August 5 on Prime Video. According to the logline, “the coming-of-age drama revolves around 17-year-old Annie Jacobson (Ella Rubin). Raised in New York City with her twin brother (Keen Ruffalo) and loving adoptive father (Jay Duplass), Annie’s life takes a turn when she inherits her mysterious grandfather’s island in Canada. There, she finds new friends, budding romances and untold family secrets.”

  The cast also includes Amélie Elisabeth Hoeferle, Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Bo Bragason, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Nikko Angelo Hinayo, Mabel Strachan, Elle-Maija Talifeathers, and Missi Pyle. 

• ‘My Life With The Walter Boys’ Season 3, Netflix – August 6

  My Life With the Walter Boys Season 3 wrapped production at the end of November 2025, and Netflix will have the third season of the show ready in August. Based on Ali Novak’s original novel of the same name, the show diverges largely from Novak’s recently published follow-up novel. Some new faces have joined the cast for Season 3 after a major cliffhanger ending involving George Walter (Marc Blucas) and of course the love triangle between Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez) and the Walter brothers Cole and Alex.

• ‘Lanterns’ – HBO Max, August 16

  Lanterns starring Aaron Pierre as John Stewart and Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan will premiere August 16 on HBO Max. Hailing from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, Lanterns centers Stewart and Jordan as they investigate a murder in the American heartland and unpack a darker mystery. Cast also includes Kelly MacDonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Ulrich Thomsen, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Sherman Augustus, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Jason Ritter, Nathan Fillion, Chris Coy, and Paul Ben-Victor.

• ‘Outer Banks’ Season 5, Netflix – August 20

  The Pogues are embarking on one final adventure in the fifth and final season of Netflix’s popular YA series Outer Banks, starting August 20. In addition to treasure hunting, John B. (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), Pope (Jonathan Daviss) and Cleo (Carlacia Grant), joined by foe-turned-ally Rafe (Drew Starkey), will be avenging the death of one of their own, JJ’s (Rudy Pankow), who was killed in the Season 4 finale by his biological father

• ‘The Gilded Age’ Season 4, HBO Max – TBA

  After Season 3 netted record viewership for Julian Fellowes’ HBO series following the titular period that marked the turn of the 20th Century in America, Season 4 of The Gilded Age has many plot points to follow up on. From Marian (Louisa Jacobsen) and Larry’s (Harry Richardson) relationship to that of powerhouse couple George Russell (Morgan Spector) and his wife Bertha (Carrie Coon), there are many questions to drive the drama of Season 4. At least Gladys (Taissa Farmiga) ended up finding love in her arranged marriage to the Duke of Buckingham and Peggy Scott (Denée Benton) received a dream proposal from Dr. Kirkland (Jordan Donica). Season 4 should be returning to HBO Max later this year.

• ‘The Hunting Wives’ Season 2, Netflix – TBA

  Netflix’s hit sapphic romantasy thriller, based on the May Cobb book, is back for another season of scandal, guns and palpable chemistry between Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman. Following the smash success of Season 1, the sophomore season of the Rebecca Cutter series kicked off in November

• ‘The Pitt’ Season 2, HBO Max – January 8

  It had been 10 months since the events of HBO Max’s hit medical drama The Pitt’s Season 1 finale, when viewers tuned in onJanuary 8 for the Season 2 premiere. It’s Fourth of July weekend, and as one can imagine, it’s prime time for hospitals like Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, what with fireworks, family barbeques, and drunken escapades. To add fuel to the fire, Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle) opens up the show’s sophomore season by declaring he will be leaving on a sabbatical to begin on the second day of the weekend. Whether that actually happens is yet to be seen, but there are two capable doctors who have his back: Dr. Abbot (Shawn Hatosy) and newcomer Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi). While we can’t give away much, we can confidently say that The Pitt knows nothing of a sophomore slump.

• ‘Industry’ Season 4, HBO Max – January 11

  HBO’s financial drama returned at the start of the year to HBO Maxwith just one notably missing face: Harry Lawtey’s Robert Spearing. Season 4 is sure to be full of intrigue, though, after creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kayjumped the shark last season to expand the story far beyond the trading floors at Pierpoint & Co. With Harper (Myha’la), Yasmin (Marisa Abela), Rishi (Sagar Radia) and Eric (Ken Leung) all at a crossroad, there’s no telling where Down and Kay might take them next. The new season also will include the return of Kit Harington and Miriam Petche, as well as new cast members Max Minghella, Kal Penn, Kiernan Shipka, and more.

• ‘Ponies’ – Peacock, January 15

  Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson will lead Ponies (“persons of no interest”), Peacock’s espionage thriller set in the 1970s. Clarke (Game of Thrones) executive produces and dons an American accent in the trailer for the spy show as Bea. Richardson (The White Lotus) plays small-town girl Twila, and she was cast following Clarke as the abrasive and fearless compliment to Bea’s collected character. The cast also includes Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, Nicholas Podany, Petro Ninovskyi and Vic Michaelis.

• ‘A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms’ – HBO Max, January 18

  HBO’s second Game of Thrones spinoff following The House of the Dragon set its big premiere January 2026 on HBO Max and showcases a version of GoT that fans are not used to. Centered on Ser Duncan (Peter Claffey), a former squire-turned-knight after the passing of his master, as he tries to join a famous jousting tournament to show he is worthy of holding the title of knight

• ‘Wonder Man’ – Disney+, January 27

  Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars as the titular superhero in Marvel’s newest Disney+ series, which has been billed as a love letter to filmmaking, acting and Hollywood itself. While we know that Abdul-Mateen plays Simon Williams, an actor navigating the film industry in a world full of superheroes, most details about the plot are being kept under wraps for now. What we doknow is that Arian Moayed will reprise his role as Agent Cleary from Spiderman: No Way Home, and Ben Kingsley will be back as Trevor Slattery.

• ‘Shrinking’ Season 3, Apple TV – January 28

  Jason Segel’s Jimmy and Harrison Ford’s Paul as well as Jessica Williams’ Gaby will return for more psychoanalyzing and “moving forward” in the third season of Apple TV’sShrinking from Bill Lawrence, Segel and Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein, who serves as writer and co-creator as well as guest star. Season 2 left off on a heartfelt Thanksgiving montage and Jimmy ultimately forgiving Goldstein’s Louis, a big reveal in the second season

• ‘The Burbs’ – Peacock, February 8

  Inspired by the 1989 horror comedy, Keke Palmer and Jack Whitehall star in The Burbs as new parents Samira and Rob, who move into his suburban childhood neighborhood. But when a mysterious stranger (Justin Kirk) purchases the creepy house across the street, where a young woman went missing years before, Samira and her nosey neighbors (Paula Pell, Julia Duffy and Mark Proksch) start poking around. Fans of the movie can expect a familiar cameo. All episodes premiere Sunday, February 8, on Peacock.

• ‘The Night Agent’ Season 3, Netflix – February 19

  Netflix’s hit action thrillerThe Night Agentreturns for a third season, in which Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) investigates a dark-money network while avoiding its paid assassins. Without Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan) for the first time, he will be aided by a relentless journalist, played by Genesis Rodriguez. Other major Season 3 cast additions include Stephen Moyer, David Lyons and Jennifer Morrison

New faces next season will include Judy Greer, Rita Wilson, Michael Galante, John Noble and Luke Kirby.

• ‘Paradise’ Season 2 – Hulu, February 23

  Season 2 of Hulu’s breakout political thriller Paradisewill bring audiences above ground as Sterling K. Brown’s Xaviersets out to find his wife Teri (Enuka Okuma). Three years after the apocalyptic event that was believed to have brought about the end of civilization, Xavier’s discovery that there are survivors — and that the world below ground that he’d helped build wasn’t all that it seemed — at the end of the first season has set the stage for an intriguing sophomore season. Season 2 will also introduce some new characters,including Shailene Woodley’s Shayen.

  Kayce Dutton’s (Luke Grimes) Yellowstonespinoff sequel will arrive on CBS in March. The second son of Kevin Costner’s John Dutton III has decided to branch off of Yellowstone ranch and join an elite unit of U.S. marshals. • ‘Outlander’ Season 8, Starz – March 6

  The upcoming second season of One Piece, Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga, is titledOne Piece: Into the Grand Line,setting up its premise. Kidman plays the titular medical examiner, who has a tense relationship with her sister Dorothy Farinelli (Jamie Lee Curtis). The show landed a two-season order at Amazon, and the cast also includes Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, Emmy winner Bobby Cannavale, Emmy nominee Simon Baker, Rosy McEwen and Jake Cannavale

• ‘The Madison’ – Paramount+, March 14

  Coming March 14, is The Madison, another anticipated offshoot in the Yellowstone universe, from Taylor Sheridan. Starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Patrick J. Adams, The Madison will follow the McIntosh family, a New York City family living in the Madison River valley of central Montana.  Pfeiffer stars as the mother of two daughters, played by Beau Garrett and Elle Chapman. Chapman’s character is Paige McIntosh, who luxuriates in the New York lifestyle perpetuated by her parents and husband. Adams plays Russell McIntosh, Paige’s investment banker husband. Garrett is Abigail Reese, a New York mother of two who is recently divorced and Amiah Miller will play Abigail’s oldest daughter Brigitte. Cast also includes Kevin Zegers, Matthew Fox and Kurt Russell. The Madison is executive produced by Sheridan, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Christina Voros, Michael Friedman, Pfeiffer and Keith Cox. The Madisonwill stream on Paramount+.

• ‘XO, Kitty’ Season 3, Netflix – April 2

  Katherine ‘Kitty’ Song Covey, chaos queen and younger sister of Lara Jean Song Covey (Lana Condor) of the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before movie trilogy based on Jenny Han’s bestselling trilogy, will be back for her senior year at KISS April 2

• ‘Your Friends & Neighbors’ Season 2, Apple TV – April 3

  Jon Hamm’s Coop, a disgraced financier, was cleared of murdering the ex-husband of his lover, played by Olivia Munn, at the end of the first season of the Apple TV drama. He also got away with his secret life of stealing from his rich neighbors. However, rather than stepping away from a life of crime and back into the world of corporate finance, Coop seems to be keen on stealing even more. However, the introduction of a new neighbor, played by James Marsden, threatens to expose him in the sophomore season. The 10-part drama series from creator Jonathan Tropper runs through the start of June and also stars Amanda Peet, Hoon Lee, Mark Tallman, Lena Hall, Aimee Carrero, Eunice Bae, Isabel Gravitt and Donovan Colan. Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 premieres April 3 on Apple TV.

• ‘The Boys’ Season 5, Prime Video – April 8

  As The Boys returns for its fifth and final season, the titular underdogs will hopefully settle their beef with the all-powerful Homelander (Antony Starr). Following the Season 2 finale of spin-off Gen V, Marie (Jaz Sinclair) and her classmates have joined Starlight’s (Erin Moriarty) resistance, which appears to be the last line of defense against Homelander. The final season will debut on April 8, 2026 with a two-episode premiere, culminating in a May 20, 2026 series finale

• ‘The Testaments’ – Hulu, April 8

  April can’t arrive soon enough for fans of The Handmaid’s Tale, as its followup series, Hulu’sThe Testaments, is set to premiere in the spring. Ann Dowd, who returns as her original role of Aunt Lydia, will be joined by Chase Infiniti as Agnes, Lucy Halliday as Daisy, Rowan Blanchard as Shunammite, Mattea Conforti as Becka, as well as Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana and Birva Pandya. Based on Margaret Atwood’s award-winning novel of the same name, The Testaments takes place in the dystopian theocracy of Gilead. Years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale, the new series is a coming-of-age story that finds a new generation of young women in Gilead grappling with the bleak future that awaits them. Both shows may be difficult to watch, considering the state of the world today; however, they make for captivating television.

• ‘Hacks’ Season 5, HBO Max – April 9

  Although Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) stood her ground for her writer Ava (Hannah Einbinder) in the Hacks, Season 4 finale, her prospects appear limited after breaking her contract. Following its renewal in May, Einbinder hinted that Season 5 could be the last for the HBO Max series from Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs and Jen Statsky. Plus The Summer I Turned Pretty breakout Christopher Briney has joined the cast of Season 5, which will premiere April 9

• ‘Malcolm In The Middle: Life’s Still Unfair’, Hulu – April 10

  After 20 years, Frankie Muniz and the whole family are back together for this continuation of the 2000-’06 Fox sitcom about the titular boy genius. Now living with his daughter Leah (Keeley Karsten) and girlfriend Tristan (Kiana Madeira), Malcolm (Muniz) returns home at his parents’ — Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois’ (Jane Kaczmarek) — demand, to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary

  Hulu launched the trailer for the reboot, which arrives on the streamer in April, at the end of December 2025

• ‘Euphoria’ Season 3, HBO Max – April 12

  After more than four years, Euphoria’s third and likely final season will grace the small screen in the spring on HBO Max. Most of the major players are returning, including Zendaya’s Rue Bennett as well as Lexi Howard (Maude Apatow), Maddy Perez (Alexa Demie), Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), Cassie Howard (Sydney Sweeney) and Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer). There are also plenty of new cast members since the story will be set “a few years after high school,” as the first glimpse at Season 3 indicated. Creator Sam Levinson has said that Season 3 is about each of the characters navigating “being out of the safety net of school” and the trials that come along with it.

• ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ – Apple TV, April 15

  Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Nick Offerman, Nicole Kidman. Need we say more? Oh, and this series is based on Rufi Thorpe’s best-selling novel, in which the titular character makes an OnlyFans account to make money after dropping out of college with a baby on the way. • ‘Beef’ Season 2, Netflix – April 16

  BeefSeason 2 will make April even more crowded with television releases when it arrives mid-month.   Beth Dutton’s (Kelly Reily) and Rip Wheeler’s (Cole Hauser) Yellowstonespinoff now has a release date set: May 15. Taylor Sheridan’s latest new offshoot of the Montana ranch mothership show starring Reilly, Hauser, Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes and more will premiere on Paramount+ with its first two episodes May 15 and also air on the Paramount Network

  Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer produced The Boroughs from creators Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews. The show shares DNA with Stranger Things, and the Duffer brothers described it as reminiscent of Ron Howard’s Cocoon. The series will star Geena Davis, Bill Pullman, Alfred Molina, Alfre Woodard, Clarke Peters, Denis O’Hare, Jena Malone, Carlos Miranda, Seth Numrich and Alice Kremelberg

Kaling created and executive produced the show alongside showrunner Charlie Grandy (The Sex Lives of College Girls, The Mindy Project)
