The Karnataka government will accord legendary playback singer S Janaki full state honours during her last rites. The decision comes in recognition of her extraordinary contribution to Indian music spanning more than six decades

Legendary singer and four-time National Award winner S Janaki, who rendered a whopping 48,000 songs in several Indian languages, passed away at a private hospital here on Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was 88. As per the latest update, the veteran singer will be laid to rest with full state honours
S Janaki to be accorded state honours
Taking to social media, Mysuru district in-charge minister Dr S Yathindra mentioned that S Janaki’s mortal remains will be kept at Maharaja College Grounds from 7.30 am on Sunday for public homage. Deccan Chronicle reported that, given her immense contribution to music, the Karnataka government has decided to accord her full state honours
Actors Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, and producer Boney Kapoor paid tribute to one of India’s greatest singers, S Janaki. Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi penned a glorious tribute to the singer. Taking to his X timeline, he wrote in Telugu, “The news of Janakamma garu’s passing has left me deeply shaken.”
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay expressed sorrow over Janaki’s demise, mentioning her contribution to Indian film music across multiple languages. His rumoured girlfriend, Trisha, also penned a heartfelt note, stating, “Carrying your name in one of my most special films will forever be one of the greatest honours of my life. But knowing you and being loved by you is something I’ll cherish forever.”
