Ramayana
Ranbir Kapoor has sparked speculation about the possibility of a third instalment of Ramayana after making an intriguing remark during a recent interview. The actor, who plays Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious mythological epic, appeared to leave the door open for another chapter beyond the two films currently planned.
During a conversation with Review Nation, Ranbir revealed that he had completed half of his work on the second instalment. However, it was a passing comment about a possible third part that caught everyone’s attention.
“Even when we finished part two or part three, if there is one. I don’t think this will ever leave us. This is an opportunity of a lifetime, irrespective of what the result is,” the actor said.
His words quickly became a talking point on social media, with fans wondering whether the makers could eventually expand the franchise. Several users also compared Ranbir’s seemingly casual remark to Hollywood actor Tom Holland, who has developed a reputation for accidentally revealing details about Marvel films.
What has the producer said about Ramayana Part 3?
While Ranbir’s comment has fuelled curiosity, there is no official confirmation of a third instalment. At present, Ramayana is being developed as a two-part cinematic project.
Producer Namit Malhotra had previously addressed the possibility of making the epic in three parts during the film’s Los Angeles premiere. He explained that the team had initially explored dividing the story into three instalments before eventually deciding on a two-film format.
Malhotra also indicated that the possibility of expanding the franchise could be considered after the worldwide response to the first two films is assessed. This means that while a third instalment has not been ruled out as a future possibility, no such project has been officially announced.
All about Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The ambitious adaptation reportedly has a budget of nearly Rs 4,000 crore, making it one of the most expensive productions in Indian cinema.
The first instalment is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, while the second part is expected to arrive during Diwali 2027.
With the first film nearing its release, Ranbir’s comment has added another talking point around the much-anticipated project. For now, audiences will have to wait for the first two films and an official announcement from the makers to know whether the epic will eventually continue with a third chapter.
