Nov. 3 (UPI) — Netflix is gearing up for the release of Blue Eye Samurai Season 2.
The streaming service shared a teaser and January premiere date for the season Tuesday.
Blue Eye Samurai is an animated series created by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green.
The show follows the title character, Mizu (voiced by Maya Erskine), a mixed-race samurai seeking revenge on her father in Edo period Japan.
Season 2 will see Mizu travel to 17th-century London, where “she faces new friends, old foes, and her own demons.”

“London in 1657 had a thriving culture of illicit activity, something that fittingly parallels our story of Japan,” Noizumi and Green told Netflix’s Tudum. “Mizu will have to navigate this dark underbelly amid a puritanical society that persecuted women as witches, closed bars and theaters, and even outlawed Christians. If you know Mizu, she doesn’t take too kindly to repression, especially if it stands in her way of revenge.”

Brenda Song, Darren Barnet and Masi Oka also return as the voices of Akemi, Taigen and Ringo, respectively, with Jonathan Pryce, Joel Kim Booster and Sherry Cola to join the Season 2 cast.
Blue Eye Samuraiwill conclude with Season 3 in 2028.
