Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan with clap
Telugu actor Ram Charan’s new film RC 17’s mahurat was held on Sunday (November 1), which was attended by his father Chiranjeevi and other members of the film fraternity.
There were reports doing the rounds that Ram Charan’s RC17 is a remake of the hit Gujarati movie Laalo: Krishna Sada Sahaayate. But according to a latest report by 123telugu, the film is not a remake of Laalo.
The speculation gained momentum after reports suggested that Ram Charan could play Lord Krishna in the Telugu adaptation of Laalo. It was the film’s first poster, that had a peacock-inspired design, which led to discussions about a possible connect between the two movies.
But according to the website, director Sukumar had been working on the script of RC17 script way before Laalo was released in 2025. The director had reportedly finished writing a substantial portion of the film’s story before the release of Laalo.
Though there are reports that a Telugu remake of Laalo is being made but Ram Charan is not confirmed as part of that movie.
RC17 was officially launched in Hyderabad on Sunday, November 1. Ram Charan’s father, actor Chiranjeevi, attended the pooja ceremony and also gave the ceremonial first clap.
Ram Charan and Sukumar reunite for RC17 after their 2018 superhit movie Rangasthalam, in which the actor played the role of Chitti Babu. Ram Charan played the role of a person who has a severe hearing impairment. His role of Chitti Babu is considered as one of his career best performances.
RC17’s first poster showing a peacock-feather-inspired design with Ram Charan’s face incorporated into it was released a few days ago with the tagline, ‘You Can Imagine’.
The film is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers in collab with Sukumar Writings and T-Series Films. Anirudh Ravichander is going to give music for the movie.
Though no female lead has been finalised yet, but there are reports that Dhurandhar actress Sara Arjun is likely to be a part of the movie.
Talking about Laalo, the film directed by Ankit Sakhiya, became a major box-office hit despite being made on a very minimal budget.
The Gujarati movie was the story of an auto-rickshaw driver who gets trapped inside a remote farmhouse and begins experiencing visions of Lord Krishna. The film reportedly crossed Rs 100-crore worldwide, becoming the first Gujarati film to achieve the milestone.
