Jailer 2 box office: Rajinikanth’s film beats its predecessor, nears Rs 800 crore worldwide

Rajinikanth and Nelson Dilipkumar`s Jailer 2 has surpassed the lifetime worldwide collection of its predecessor, Jailer, and is now steadily moving towards the Rs 800 crore mark at the worldwide box office.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2shows no signs of slowing down. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the Tamil action film has surpassed the lifetime worldwide collection of its predecessor, Jailer, and is now steadily moving towards the Rs 800 crore mark at the worldwide box office.
Jailer 2 box office collection report
According to early estimates by Sacnilk.com, Jailer 2 earned Rs 9.35 crore net across 8,738 shows in India on its 17th day. The Tamil version continued to remain the highest contributor, earning Rs 6.70 crore from 4,199 shows. The Hindi version raked in Rs 1.45 crore from 3,549 shows, while the Telugu version collected Rs 90 lakh through 801 screenings. The Kannada version added another Rs 30 lakh from 189 shows.
With these collections, the film’s total India net collection stands at Rs 444.75 crore. Its domestic gross earnings currently stand at Rs 520.35 crore. The sequel also maintained a solid run in overseas markets. It collected Rs 3 crore on day 17, taking its overseas gross collection to Rs 270.50 crore. This brings its worldwide gross collection to Rs 790.85 crore. With the Rs 800 crore mark now within reach, the film needs another Rs 9.15 crore to achieve the milestone.
Jailer 2 beats its predecessor
The sequel has also surpassed the original Jailer in lifetime worldwide grosses. The difference in the box office run of the two movies is proof of the scale of the sequel’s theatrical run. According to Times of India report, the first Jailer earned Rs 3.40 crore pan-India on Day 16 of its theatrical run in 2023. The Tamil version earned Rs 2.60 crore from 1,583 shows, and the Telugu version collected Rs 60 lakh with 732 screenings. The Hindi and Kannada versions earned Rs 10 lakh each from 258 and 122 shows.
Meanwhile, Jailer 2 has collected Rs 790.85 crore worldwide, surpassing the original film’s collection by Rs 257.11 crore. This makes the sequel a bigger box office success in terms of global earnings.

Apart from Rajinikanth, the film features S. J. Suryah, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa Menon, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna. Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik reprise their respective characters from the first instalment, while several new starshave joined the franchise.
