Sara Foster has nothing but amazing things to say about ex Benicio del Toro.
Sara appeared alongside sister Erin Foster on Wednesday’s episode of the Armchair Expertpodcast, hosted by longtime friend Dax Shepard, when her dating life came up. Sara confirmed that she “hooked up with nobody” famous when she was younger — except she could have.
Shepard’s cohost, Monica Padman, stated Sara was, however, romantically linked to both Leonardo DiCaprio and del Toro in the early 2000s. “Benicio’s the best,” Sara said.
Erin chimed in, revealing that del Toro “was on family vacations with us.” The Nobody Wants Thiscreator added, “It was very funny.” The sisters also confirmed that del Toro is “the Puerto Rican Brad Pitt,” something that’s been known “forever.” Sara said that’s “how he was pitched to me” before they dated.
Sara, who dated del Toro in 2004 and 2005, called him “a gem of a human,” before praising all of her exes. “I have only the best things to say about anybody that I ever dated,” said the Nobody Wants This producer. “I just didn’t have fun in life.”

Sara was in a two-decade relationship with former tennis player Tommy Haas before announcing their split in November 2024. She and Haas never wed, but they share two daughters, Valentina and Josephine. (Sara has been outspoken about not dating since their breakup.)
“Nothing crazy happened I think you, kind of, grow differently,” Sara said during a June episode of Kristin Cavallari’s Let’s Be Honestpodcast, explaining that there was a “collective shift” in their relationship.
She continued, “I remember, I feel like he looked at me once, and I was like, ‘Oh, he does not respect me anymore.’ Once you can see someone looking at you with a certain eye, you’re kind of like, ‘Oh, God.'”
During the same podcast episode, Sara revealed that she and Haas were still technically living together. Sara said this “comfort level” is “being on the road” as someone who always traveled for work.
“I mean, he’s a Florida resident, he’s German, he is always on the road, he’s in the tennis world,” she said. “He was a professional tennis player for 25 years.”
Sara added, “We have breakfast when he’s in town, we have breakfast and dinner with our kids every day. And there’s something to be said — it’s not for everybody — but there’s something to be said about slowly transitioning.”
