Judd released her album The Hard Truth in early October. One of the tracks, “Drive,” was by Kelley.
“It’s me driving to see her in prison and I did it every week by myself,” she explained to Kotb. “It was important for me to show up for my daughter, and when she’s not sober, obviously, I have to set a boundary and say no. And that’s really hard.”
In September, Judd told PEOPLE more about the extent of Kelley’s struggle with drugs. “I miss her. I miss her desperately, and I’ve missed out on a lot of years because of the drug addiction,” she said at the time, alleging that Kelley cut off contact from her in 2025.
“I’ve spent half a million dollars on programs trying to do the right thing, trying to do the next right thing. And meth is a bitch,” she out Entertainment Weekly‘s sister site. “It’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, and I just can’t believe it.”
