Tyra Banks’ first-ever <a href="https://ew.com/americas-next-top-model/" rel="nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>America’s Next Top Modelwinner has called out the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for casting trans model and American Horror Story: 13 actress Alex Consani as well as fellow reality star Kylie Jenner in its annual lingerie runway event.
ANTM cycle 1 champ Adrianne Curry went on a lengthy tirade against the pop culture event during a live broadcast Monday on her YouTube channel, where she slammed the fashion brand’s hiring practices for the 2026 edition of the runway show.
“They have no standards anymore, and it’s a joke. Anyone can walk in it. They turned down famous Victoria’s Secret models who f—ing look great to put a transgender person in there and a f—ing Kardashian,” 44-year-old Curry, now an Avon representative, said during her livestream, appearing to reference former Victoria’s Secret model Romee Strijd’s claim that she didn’t book the gig after she auditioned to return to the show.
Curry continued: “It would be one thing if the trans model looked like a f—ing ladyboy from, you know, Bangkok where you couldn’t tell at all and it’s the most beautiful f—ing woman you’ve ever seen in your life. That’s not what happened. Mid. I’m mid. I wasn’t good enough for Victoria’s Secret back in the day. I was not good enough.”
The reality TV personality (whose life while married to ex-husband Christopher Knight was chronicled in the VH1 series My Fair Brady) said she felt that “Victoria’s Secret pre-2008 meant something” and indicated that models walking in the show “were the cream of the crop,” like Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford.
“It’s like, they just hire anyone to go up there now. There is nothing elite about it,” Curry added, later noting: “Now it’s anyone. Oh, are you a paraplegic? Cool, you’re a model.”
Later in the livestream, she again brought the conversation back around to her frustrations over the show’s cast: “They have f—ing Kardashians in there, that trans model, I’m sorry, they were not better-looking than the OG Victoria’s Secret models they said no to.”
Curry said she felt that “everything’s a f—ing virtue signal” in fashion today. “Nothing against Kylie Jenner, you’re not a f—ing model, you don’t have a model’s body.”
The star, who won ANTM‘s inaugural edition in 2003 before forging a moderately successful career in fashion ahead of her transition to reality TV work, later attempted to clarify her stance in a follow-up Instagram video after she received backlash for her initial comments. She also shared another YouTube livestream in which she addressed her prior remarks.

“You know what pisses me off? When people are like, ‘You body-shamed someone for noticing they’re short,'” Curry summarized of the blowback. “Really? ‘You noticed someone doesn’t have a model’s body, so that’s body-shaming.’ I’m sorry, when you walk through the mall and you see a 5’4” chick, are you like, ‘Oh my god, clearly a supermodel! Model’s body!’ Never. It’s okay to be a little spinner that’s hot like Carmen Electra. There’s nothing wrong with Carmen Electra. No one looked at Carmen Electra and was like, ‘That’s a supermodel.’ They were like, ‘That’s one f—ing smoking hot bitch.’ Everyone has a lane. Everyone!”

She added that she doesn’t “understand why everyone just clutches their f—ing pearls over everything” and clarified that she doesn’t “think Kylie Jenner is ugly,” but rather thinks “she’s two feet tall and doesn’t look like a model. Anyone can be a model now. You can just put it in your Instagram bio, and you’re a model. There’s nothing special about being a model.”
