Netflix has unveiled the teaser of its upcoming gangster drama Akka, starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte in lead roles. Released on Keerthy’s birthday, October 17, the teaser introduces Bhavani and Rudra, two powerful women caught in a world of rivalries and shifting loyalties. Produced by YRF Entertainment, the series will premiere on October 30, 2026.
Netflix and YRF Entertainment are bringing a new female-led gangster drama to audiences with Akka, starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte. The makers unveiled the teaser on October 17, coinciding with Keerthy’s birthday, offering a glimpse into a fictional kingdom where women hold power.
Set in the 1980s, Akka unfolds in Pernuru, a kingdom built, governed and protected by generations of women. However, beneath its traditions lie complicated relationships, rivalries and struggles for control.
The teaser introduces Keerthy as Bhavani and Radhika as Rudra, two formidable personalities whose conflicting perspectives are expected to drive the narrative.
Speaking about her character, Keerthy said, “Bhavani is one of the most unique and memorable characters I have had the opportunity to play. It was lovely working with Radhika. Our characters bring such compelling dynamics to the story and the interplay between them adds an intriguing edge to the narrative.”
The actress also expressed excitement about making her series debut with Netflix and YRF Entertainment.
“Akka marks my first series with Netflix and YRF Entertainment and what drew me to this project was the distinctiveness of its story and the world it inhabits,” she added.
Radhika Apte also shared her excitement about playing Rudra, a woman driven by her convictions and willingness to challenge established norms.
“Rudra is a fascinating character, driven by her own convictions and an instinct to challenge the world around her. What drew me to the series was the complexity of its characters and the tensions that emerge from their differing perspectives,” she said.
Speaking about the teaser’s release on Keerthy’s birthday, Radhika added, “It’s wonderful that the date announcement and the teaser drop of Akka has coincided with Keerthy’s birthday. I am sure it is going to be lucky for us.”
The actress, who has previously collaborated with Netflix on several projects, described working with YRF Entertainment as a rewarding experience.
Akka marks the directorial debut of Dharmaraj Shetty, who has also written the series.
Produced by YRF Entertainment, the show has Aditya Chopra, Yogendra Mogre and Akshaye Widhani serving as executive producers.
Apart from Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte, the cast also includes veteran actress Tanvi Azmi.
With a story centred on women, power and complex relationships, Akka promises to explore a distinctive gangster world.
The series will premiere exclusively on Netflix on October 30, 2026.
