Every new season comes with a new anime season. Autumn is no different and, in fact, this one has been particularly bountiful. That’s especially true of new seasons of series that are already airing, which is good, but less so with new series, which isn’t so good. But there are some interesting series among the new releases that we want to make sure you don’t miss. For example, these five series you absolutely have to watch. At least, if our pitch convinces you.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run | Netflix

Technically not a new anime, but the way Netflix is treating it, it might as well be. Because given that we’ve only been able to see one episode before they premiere the second and third stages of the race, it can be considered the series’ real debut. With stunning animation, one of the studio’s trademarks, and with this being one of the most celebrated arcs of a manga as beloved as JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, this is, without a doubt, the must-watch anime of the season. Because if you still haven’t seen JoJo’s, this is the perfect arc to discover why it’s so celebrated.

Firefly Wedding | Crunchyroll

An adaptation of Oreco Tachibana’s recently concluded manga, it’s animated by David Production, the same studio behind JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. But it couldn’t be more different in tone. During the Meiji era, Japan’s feudal era, the beautiful daughter of a count suffers an assassination attempt, and she responds by proposing marriage to her assassin to try to stop it… something he agrees to. This will set off a violent and possessive relationship in which the boundaries between romance and something else will constantly blur. One of the most distinctive series of the season, if not the most distinctive

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus | Netflix

If you think you already saw Dragon Ball Super: Beerus in 2015, you’re right. Up to a point. You saw the original version, which, for many fans, didn’t remotely do justice to the manga. This is the remake that rebuilds the narrative by adding new scenes, reanimating entire scenes, and fixing some of the most blatant problems of the original series. Though there’s no need to explain why this is the most popular anime of the season so far, this remake does justice to the source material of an anime that failed to adapt a manga beloved by fans.

Magic Knight Rayearth | Crunchyroll

Even though Magic Knight Rayearth is one of CLAMP’s great classics, the creators of Cardcaptor Sakura, it has never had a complete adaptation of the manga as an anime. The original adaptation had a different ending from the manga, which was pretty disappointing for fans. That’s something E&H Production wants to fix with this new version, which aims to be faithful, with a modern anime style, while retaining the feel of a classic ’90s anime. Making it one of the most intriguing anime of the season.

The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom | Prime Video

But if you want to see the anime series that anime fans are talking about most this season that isn’t JoJo’s, then you have to watch The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom. A series about a fantasy world where the general of the Marronnier Kingdom sends her seven children to the seven neighboring kingdoms to strengthen relations with them. Following each of the siblings with their own quirks and strengths, it’s a story of discovery, politics, and a touch of romance that’s delighting people with its originality. And there’s no other series like Marronnier out there.
