Sunil Rao, Managing Director Roblox India and South Asia
Roblox is putting its weight behind India’s creator community. The gaming and creation platform held a familiarisation event called ‘UNBOX ROBLOX’ in New Delhi this week where it revisited the latest announcements from its developer conference, RDC 2026, along with showcasing new games and features for players, parents, creators and partners. Roblox also released an Economic Impact report for India, which it says shows its interest in investing in the country’s creator ecosystem. Sunil Rao, managing director of Roblox India and South Asia, highlighted the platform’s potential in the country, saying that “the next big hit could come from India.”“This is the age of small studios and the next big hit on Roblox could come from India. Roblox daily active users grew by 64% y-o-y* and I am excited about the possibilities that exist in this market across players, partners and creators,” he added. Roblox believes the platform can play a key role in growing both game consumption and creator careers in India. (*The growth figure is for the quarter ending June 30, 2026.)
What Roblox offers creators in India
Rao announced that Roblox will launch Build in India soon. It was first announced at RDC 2026. Additionally, Roblox launched in Hindi a few months ago, and more languages are coming soon. Moreover, creators can earn from their experiences through monetisation inside the app. Roblox Studio, a free to use service, helps people build experiences and also teaches design skills.
