Prices for various components, including memory, continue to rise. This could significantly impact the production cost of next-generation consoles and the final price for consumers.
Recently, well-known tech insider KeplerL2 joined the discussion about the potential cost of the <a href="https://comicvibe.com/dont-throw-away-your-old-<a href="https://comicvibe.com/digital-game-ownership-gets-huge-boost-as-us-law-hits-back-at-playstation/” title=”Digital game ownership gets huge boost as US law hits back at PlayStation”>playstation-do-this-instead/” title=”Don't throw away your old PlayStation — Do this instead”>PlayStation 6. Many users agreed that the cost would approach a thousand dollars. A community member under the nickname PaintTinJr suggested that Sony could then subsidize PlayStation 6 consoles to sell them for a hypothetical 680 dollars.
KeplerL2 responded by stating that the RAM and SSD (RAM + NAND) alone for the PlayStation 6 currently cost “more than 680 dollars”.
Since the PlayStation 6 still needs a CPU/GPU and other components, the retail price of the console will likely be significantly higher than “680 dollars”.
It is noteworthy that currently, a PlayStation 5 (1 TB) with a disc drive / without costs 649 and 599 dollars respectively, while the PlayStation 5 Pro (2 TB) version costs 899 dollars, which is 200 dollars more than the estimated memory cost for the new Sony console.
