Homelander has a new voice in The Boys: Trigger Warning, a virtual reality stealth-action game set in the universe of the Prime Video series. Released earlier in 2026, the game features voice actor Jake Green as the ruthless superhero instead of Antony Starr, who portrayed the character throughout the television show’s five-season run.
According to Collider’s October 16 report, the game also brings back several actors from the original series. Jensen Ackles reprises Soldier Boy, while Laz Alonso returns as Mother’s Milk, preserving some of the show’s familiar performances in the interactive adaptation.
Trigger Warning expands The Boys franchise beyond television with an original story designed to fit within the established fictional universe. The game’s release earlier this year attracted limited attention, according to Screen Rant’s October 14 coverage, which highlighted Green’s casting as a detail that many players had overlooked.
Green has extensive experience voicing characters in animation and video games. His other credits include Marvel’s Wolverine, Young Jedi Adventures and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Screen Rant also reported that Green voiced Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1, where his interpretation of the character received positive comments from players.
One player praised Green’s performance in The Boys: Trigger Warning in a Reddit comment cited by Screen Rant.
“Cool that they got a few of the shows cast to voice their characters in it. Jake Green nailed it as Homelander!” the commenter wrote.
Another comment highlighted Green’s ability to reproduce the character’s distinctive mannerisms in Mortal Kombat 1.
“Green did a good job and got the mannerisms down really well so I don’t think it’s important who voiced him only that he did his job and did it well.” the commenter wrote.
A third player also complimented the performance while noting some imperfections in the dialogue delivery.
“He did a great job. Some of the lines are a little rough but as far as impressions go, I’d give him a thumbs up,” the commenter wrote.
The recasting applies to the video game rather than the television series. Antony Starr remains the actor associated with Homelander across the show’s five seasons, which concluded in 2026, while Green’s work provides an alternative interpretation for the character in gaming.
The franchise’s future includes Vought Rising, a prequel series set in the 1950s and featuring Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash as Clara Vought, the character who later becomes Stormfront. Screen Rant reported that the series is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video in 2027.
Another potential expansion is The Boys: Mexico, which Screen Rant described as still awaiting full approval. The future of the franchise’s television and gaming projects remains separate, with Trigger Warning already available as a virtual reality title.
