Following the momentous success of the franchise on streaming, the original Powerseries that started it all is coming to Netflix.
Power, which aired on Starz for six seasons between 2014 and 2020, will be arriving on Netflix for the first time in the U.S., after making a splash on international versions of the streaming service. The initial series, co-produced by Courtney A. Kemp (The Bernie Mac Show, The Good Wife) and rap legend 50 Cent, has spawned three sequel shows: Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force, forming the Power Universe.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the Powerfranchise has amassed a staggering 1.6 billion streaming hours globally, making it one of the most commercially successful Starz shows everywhere. Critically, it has also been ranked by various publications, including PasteMagazine and SlashFilm,as one of the top 3 greatest shows ever by the network.
“An American crime drama created by Courtney A. Kemp, Powerfollows Ghost (Omari Hardwick), who seems to be living the dream in New York City. He’s married to Tasha (Naturi Naughton) and owns Truth, one of Manhattan’s hottest new nightclubs,” Netflix’s official teaser post for Power’sintroduction to the streaming service states.
“But Ghost has a second life: He’s also the kingpin behind one of the city’s most lucrative drug operations, running things alongside his best friend, Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora). As the club takes off, Ghost starts eyeing an exit from the game entirely, hoping to build something legitimate. But that may prove difficult, especially after reconnecting with his high school sweetheart — and federal prosecutor — Angela Valdes (Lela Loren).”
Power’sarrival on Netflix next month will mark the first time the series has been available on American Netflix, having previously only been available on Hulu and the Starz streaming service.
Power seasons 1-6 arrive on Netflix U.S. on November 9, 2026. International territories may vary.
