Disney’s latest release, VisionQuest, has been in the headlines following its premiere earlier this week. The MCU series has quickly climbed the streaming charts. The show features James Spader returning as Ultron in the WandaVision spin-off.
VisionQuest is already topping Disney+ streaming charts
VisionQuest has made an impressive start on Disney+, already becoming the streamer’s number-one TV show in the United States. According to FlixPatrol, the MCU series currently leads the platform’s streaming chart after launching with a two-episode premiere on October 13.
The Top 10 overall list also features The Nightmare Before Christmas in second place, followed by Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, and Hocus Pocus 2. The remaining list includes Moana, Family Guy Happy Hell-o-ween, Coven Academy, Casper, and Toy Story 5, which rounds out the top ten.
The show’s early success comes as no surprise, considering the excitement surrounding James Spader’s return as Ultron. Created by Terry Matalas, VisionQuest is an eight-episode Marvel miniseries centered on the titular character.
The show serves as a spin-off of WandaVision and continues exploring the character’s place in the MCU. The first episode reportedly reveals that Vision did not completely destroy the villain during the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron.
This revelation could have major consequences for the wider MCU storyline. The miniseries has received positive reactions from critics and fans. It currently holds a 79% critics’ score and an 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, suggesting that the show is connecting with both groups.
VisionQuest is also an important release as it arrives before Avengers: Doomsday. Its story could help establish key developments in the MCU ahead of the upcoming crossover film. With the show already leading Disney+ streaming chart, anticipation for Doomsday has gone up.
New episodes of VisionQuest arrive every Tuesday on Disney+, with the series scheduled to continue through November 10.
