Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Shrink Their Hollywood Business as Layoffs Hit Archewell Productions

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been quietly cutting staff at Archewell Productions.

“They cut staff over the last 12 to 18 months,” an insider told Page Six on Thursday, October 15. Theny’s Raleigh Studios office in Los Angeles is now down to just a small number of people

It’s not the first round of belt-tightening for the Sussexes: In December 2025, their Archewell Philanthropies arm let go of three employees, which accounted for 60% of the staff. A spokesperson for the couple told Page Six at the time that the roles were made redundant and that the move was “inevitable.”

The latest wave of downsizing comes as questions swirl about the couple’s future in Hollywood after their move back to the United Kingdom with their children Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.

Harry, 42, and Meghan, 45, launched Archewell Productions in 2020, not long after stepping back from royal duties and relocating to California. That September, they inked a multi-year deal with Netflix.

The partnership produced the 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan, which set a record as the streamer’s biggest documentary debut. In March 2025, Meghan’s lifestyle show With Love, Meghan premiered, with a second season following in August of that year. Around that time, Netflix scaled back the relationship to a first-look deal, and the streamer has yet to greenlight a third season.

Netflix also shelled out $3 million in August 2023 for the rights to the novel Meet Me at the Lake, which Archewell Productions planned to turn into a film. Three years later, there haven’t been many updates on its status. In June 2026, author Carley Fortune told Jenna Bush Hager on Open Book that an unnamed director had been hired, and the project finally appeared to be gaining momentum.
