MUMBAI: Twenty-four voices, one stage, no easy wins. Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and Sony LIV present “Indian Idol LegendsReturn“, which brings celebrated singers from across seasons together as 12 competing duos. Produced by Fremantle, the show premieres on October 17 and airs every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm.
The cast is a roll call of fan favourites. Singers such as Abhijeet Sawant, Amit Sana, Salman Ali and Sayli Kamble reunite for what the channel calls the biggest season of the franchise. It is a chance for audiences to reconnect with familiar voices and discover new musical partnerships. Each duo must find its own rhythm, build chemistry and deliver performances that stand out against an experienced field.
The panel has a twist. Himesh Reshammiya returns as superstar judge, while Aditya Narayan takes on hosting duties. The singers will be judged both by Reshammiya and by their fellow contestants, adding different musical perspectives and the stakes of competing against one another to the judging process.
The tagline does the talking. Built around the thought “Sirf ek baar jeetna kaafi nahi hota, baar baar jeetna padta hai”, the show challenges the 12 duos to earn the audience’s support all over again. Past performances may have made them favourites, but new pairings and fresh competition will test their versatility, teamwork and musical instincts.
Harsh Sheth, business head, Sony Entertainment Television (SET), said: “Indian Idol has always been about discovering extraordinary voices and creating moments that stay with audiences. With Indian Idol Legends Return, we’re taking that legacy to an entirely new level by bringing some of the most iconic voices discovered on the show back into the spotlight, this time to compete in a blockbuster season. The season brings together the nostalgia and emotional connect of these much-loved voices with the thrill of a fresh competition. With the hit machine Himesh Reshammiya returning as judge, we’re adding another powerful draw to a proposition that celebrates both the legacy and enduring fandom of Indian Idol. We believe this unique combination of iconic talent, fierce competition and star power will make Indian Idol Legends Return the biggest season ever, creating spectacular musical moments and giving audiences plenty to celebrate.”
Aradhana Bhola, managing director, Fremantle, said: “Marrying the gold of iconic Idol fandom with the newness of all out duet performances for the first time ever in the history of the format worldwide, Indian Idol Legends Return is setting its own bar. Nostalgia, unique musical renditions, performance chemistry, competitive fire and renewed inspiration, all under the watchful eyes of the ever innovating returning judge Himesh Reshammiya and never a dull moment host Aditya Narayan make this Fremantle creation with Sony Entertainment Television an extraordinary season that we hope will continue to receive love from our audiences.”
Himesh Reshammiya, singer and composer, said: “Sirf ek baar jeetna kaafi nahi hota, baar-baar jeetna padta hai. And that is what makes Indian Idol Legends Return so exciting. It brings together artists who have already proven their talent and earned their place in the world of music but must now rise to the challenge all over again. With a new competitive format, every performance becomes an opportunity to push boundaries, win hearts and prove their mettle once more. This season is not just about celebrating the voices that have shaped Indian Idol’s legacy, but also about witnessing their determination to win and their ability to surprise us all over again.”
Produced by Fremantle, the show will see a musical battle among Idol legends as they compete for the ultimate title and try to win the hearts of viewers all over again. “Indian Idol Legends Return” premieres on October 17 and airs every Saturday and Sunday at 8 pm, only on Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and Sony LIV.
