Sandisk has partnered with Meta to become the exclusive provider of flash storage products for Meta VR Glasses. The announcement was made on October 15 in New Delhi. Under the agreement, Sandisk will offer microSD Express memory cards and USB-C flash drives built for the upcoming headset. The products have been developed in collaboration with Meta and will be part of the official ‘Made for Meta’ accessories programme. Meta VR Glasses are scheduled to launch in spring 2027, and the Sandisk storage products will be released alongside them.
Sandisk has not announced the price of its microSD Express memory cards or USB-C flash drives for Meta VR Glasses. The company has also not revealed the storage capacities that will be offered across the lineup. Pricing for Meta VR Glasses has not been disclosed either.
The Sandisk storage products will be sold in markets where Meta VR Glasses are available. Neither company has confirmed whether the headset will launch in India, and Sandisk has not shared country-specific availability or retail details for its Meta-certified accessories.
The lineup includes two product types: microSD Express memory cards and USB-C flash drives. Both have been tested and certified by Meta for use with Meta VR Glasses. According to Sandisk, the certification process under the ‘Made for Meta’ programme is meant to ensure compatibility and consistent performance with the headset.
The microSD Express cards work with Meta VR Glasses and give users access to additional storage once inserted. The microSD Express standard uses the PCIe interface and NVMe protocol, which allows faster data transfer than regular microSD cards. The cards are meant for storing games, apps and VR content.
The USB-C flash drives offer a second option for expanding storage on the headset. Users can use them to save and carry content libraries, as well as media captured on the device. Sandisk said the storage products are aimed at users with growing collections of VR games, apps and media who need more capacity than the headset’s built-in storage.
