The Guardians opened the ALCS with an impressive 7-3 victory Monday night, overcoming an early deficit with seven runs over the final four innings. Nathaniel Lowe delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth, while José Ramírez and Chase DeLauter collected three hits apiece. Cleveland has now won four consecutive postseason games after rallying from a 2-0 series deficit against the Chicago White Sox in the ALDS.
Tampa Bay will look to bounce back behind Freddy Peralta, who is scheduled to face Cleveland rookie Parker Messick in Game 2. Peralta allowed just one run over 4 1/3 innings in his previous postseason appearance against the New York Yankees, while Messick is hoping to rebound from a difficult ALDS outing.
With the Guardians threatening to take complete control of the series, the Rays will need a stronger performance from their bullpen and timely production from their lineup to avoid heading to Cleveland facing a two-game deficit. Game 2 begins at 8:00 PM ET on TBS and truTV.
