NFL head coaches continue to disappoint in late-game situations.
Two weekends ago, the Dallas Cowboys blew it late, allowing the Baltimore Ravens to go on a game-winning drive in just seven seconds. On Sunday morning, the Eagles suffered a similar loss, falling to the Jaguars in London, despite taking a lead with less than 0:10 to play.
As more and more NFL games come down to the final seconds, clock management and strategy is growing in importance.
Some NFL fans think that teams would be better off hiring “Madden NFL” video game consultants to improve their late-game decision making.

Video game players think they could do a better job – seriously.
“NFL teams should seriously consider hiring pro Madden players as situational football consultants. I played Madden professionally for 15+ years so I’ve played thousands of thousands of games. That means I’ve played in more late game situations than most active NFL coaches will ever play in. And I would 1000000% make better decisions than 95% of the NFL coaches,” one Madden NFL player tweeted.
They’re not alone in feeling that way, though.
Former NFL quarterback agrees with suggestion
Former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert thinks it’s a strong strategy.
“Eagles might leave Sirianni in London after that kickoff decision. It’s why coaches need Madden consultants in situational football. They don’t have enough reps,” he shared.
Could NFL teams actually improve by hiring some video game players to help with clock management?
